Many patients with cancer approaching the end of life (EOL) continue to receive treatments that are unlikely to provide meaningful clinical benefit, potentially causing more harm than good. This is called overtreatment at the EOL. Overtreatment harms patients by causing side-effects, increasing health care costs, delaying important discussions about and preparation for EOL care, and occasionally accelerating death.

In this paper, cellulose-lignin films containing Fe were prepared by the codissolution-precipitation method, and the films have high transparency as well as high UV absorption. In this process, kraft lignin chelates with Fe and then bonds with cellulose through hydrogen bonding, evenly distributing within the film. The morphological results showed that the kraft lignin chelated with Fe bound tightly linked to cellulose within the Fe@cellulose-lignin composite films.

This study aims to address the challenge of detoxifying ginkgolic acid and transform it from waste into a valuable resource. By using pseudo-template molecular imprinting technology to chemically modify polysaccharide materials, we developed a polysaccharide-based molecular imprinted material (MMCC-CD/CS-MIP) for the targeted separation and controlled release of ginkgolic acid. Under optimal conditions, MMCC-CD/CS-MIP demonstrated excellent adsorption performance (Q = 47.

6PPD-quinone (6PPD-Q) as a derivative of the rubber antioxidant N-(1,3-dimethylbutyl)-N'-phenyl-p-phenylenediamine (6PPD), is attracting intensive attention due to the significant hazard to ecosystems. However, the effective management of this type of contaminant has been scarcely reported. Hydrangea-like hollow O, Cl-codoped graphite-phase carbon nitride microspheres (HHCN), featuring open pores were readily prepared by molecular self-assembly and utilized to address 6PPD-Q in an aqueous system for the first time.

Permanganate (Mn(VII)) is a traditional reagent used for water purification, but it is mild to deal with refractory organic contaminants of emerging concern. There is great interest in combination with effective and low-cost biochar to improve reaction kinetics of Mn(VII). Until recently, it still unclear how biomass composition and carbon structure of biochar influence the Mn(VII) oxidation performance.
