In this work, quasi-spherical, small-sized, citrate-stabilized, core-shell (CS)-structured Au@Ag nanoparticles (NPs) with Ag shells of controlled thicknesses ( = 0, 1.25, 3.25, and 5.25) were successfully synthesized by using Au NPs with sizes of 5.5 nm as seeds. The as-prepared Au@Ag NPs after the phase transfer process were further used for the fabrication of high-quality large-area monolayer films of hexagonal close-packed Au@Ag nanoparticles (LAMF-HCP-Au@Ag NPs) by our improved self-assembly at the interface of toluene-DEG containing a proper amount of water (10% v/v). Moreover, after transferring the as-prepared LAMF-HCP-Au@Ag NPs onto polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) substrates (LAMF-HCP-Au@Ag NP@PDMS substrates), the resulting LAMF-HCP-Au@Ag NP@PDMS substrates can exhibit uniformity in the intensity of the surface-enhanced Raman scattering signals. Furthermore, taking LAMF-HCP-Au@Ag NP@PDMS substrates as an example, they can achieve quantitative detection with high sensitivity for crystal violet (CV) and 4-aminothiophenol (4-ATP) in the range from 10 to 10 M and from 10 to 10 M, respectively. Also, their limit of detection (LOD) for CV and 4-ATP are 10 and 10 M, respectively. Especially, the LOD for CV can also be as low as 10 M by extending the immersing time.

Gatifloxacin (GAT), an antibiotic belonging to the fluoroquinolone (FQ) class, is a toxicant that may contaminate food products. In this study, a method of ultrasensitive immunochromatographic detection of GAT was developed for the first time. An indirect format of the lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA) was performed.

Metal nanoclusters (NCs) with dimensions of approximately 3 nm serve as a crucial link between metal-organic complexes and metal nanoparticles, garnering significant interest due to their distinctive molecule-like characteristics. These include well-defined molecular structures, clear HOMO-LUMO transitions, quantized charge, and robust luminescence emission. Atomically precise alloy NCs, in contrast to homometallic NCs, exhibit a wealth of structures and intriguing properties, with their novel attributes often intricately tied to the positions of alloyed elements within the structure, facilitating the exploration of structure-property relationships.

Prostate specific antigen (PSA) is widely used in liquid biopsy of prostate cancer (PCa) but still faces challenges due to the poor specificity. Herein, this study reports a double-SERS satellite immunoassay, made of an Au-Ag dealloyed intra-nanogap nanoflower (Au-Ag DINF) with strong SERS signals and Au magnetic nanoparticles (AuMNPs) with magnetic capture and SERS amplification, for sensing multiple PSA (free PSA (fPSA), complexed PSA (cPSA) and [-2]proPSA (p2PSA)) toward potential PCa screening. Unlike the previous studies focus on the tPSA and fPSA/tPSA ratio (f/t PSA%), this work introduces a multiple PSA-mediated Prostate Health Index (PHI) assay with significantly increased the predictive accuracy and specificity of PCa, especially the patients with a tPSA level in the "diagnostic gray zone".

In contrast to homogeneous enzyme catalysis, nanozymes are nanosized heterogeneous catalysts that perform reactions on a rigid surface. This fundamental difference between enzymes and nanozymes is often overlooked in kinetic studies and practical applications. In this article, using 14 nanozymes of various compositions (core@shell, metal-organic frameworks, metal, and metal oxide nanoparticles), we systematically demonstrate that nontypical features of nanozymes, such as multiple catalytic activities, chemical transformations, and aggregation, need to be considered in nanozyme catalysis.

Tandem neural networks for inverse design can only make single predictions, which limits the diversity of predicted structures. Here, we use conditional variational autoencoder (cVAE) for the inverse design of core-shell nanoparticles. cVAE is a type of generative neural network that generates multiple valid solutions for the same input condition.
