Unlabelled: An ultrasensitive label-free electrochemical immunosensor was developed for hepatitis C antibodies (anti-HCV). Worldwide, it is estimated 71 million people have HCV infection in a chronic stage that may lead to cirrose and cancer. To achieve HCV elimination, health programs should include screening testing based on anti-HCV detection allowing the early-stage treatment. The immunosensor was based on a graphene oxide-polypyrrole (PPy-GO) film one-step electropolymerized on the electrode surface. Ultrasensitive anti-HCV detection was ensured by HCV antigen conjugated to biotin that was immobilized in a great amount on streptavidin-coated nanostructured surface. Analytical responses were obtained by anodic peaks from the square wave voltammetry in the presence of ferrocyanide/ferricyanide as a redox probe. This immunosensor exhibited a linear range from 2 to 14 ng mL of anti-HCV and a limit of detection in the clinical range (1.63 ng mL). Furthermore, the immunosensor presented an efficient performance for the determination of anti-HCV in spiked serum samples, becoming this developed nanosensor as potential tools for early HCV diagnosis and screening.

Due to their lipophilicity and low content, the major sesame oleosin allergens, Ses i 4 and Ses i 5, are challenging to identify using conventional techniques. Then, a novel unlabeled electrochemical immunosensor was developed to detect the potential allergic activity of sesame oleosins. The voltammetric immunosensor was constructed using a composite of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs), polyethyleneimine (PEI), and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), which was synthesized in a one-pot process and modified onto a glass carbon electrode to enhance the catalytic current of the oxygen reduction reaction.

This study developed an electrochemical immunosensor for the detection of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) in vegetable oil, based on an electrochemical modified carbon cloth (EMCC) electrode modified with a composite functional layer of cross-linked o-aminothiophenol functionalized AuNPs (o-ATP@AuNPs)/Prussian Blue (PB). The EMCC electrode substrate was prepared by modifying carbon cloth through electrochemical methods to increase its surface area, which allowed for the effective deposition of o-ATP@AuNPs/PB composite functional layer and improved the conductivity of the electrode material. The synergistic effect of o-ATP@AuNPs and PB significantly enhanced the sensitivity of the electrochemical sensor.

Envenomation accidents are usually diagnosed at the hospital through signs and symptoms assessment such as short breath, dizziness and vomiting, numbness, swilling, bruising, or bleeding around the affected site. However, this traditional method provides inaccurate diagnosis given the interface between snakebites and scorpion stings symptoms. Therefore, early determination of bites/stings source would help healthcare professionals select the suitable treatment for patients, thus improving envenomation management.

Bone is a dynamic tissue that serves several purposes in the human body, including storing calcium, forming blood cells, and protecting and supporting the body's organs. Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) is secreted into the circulation by osteoblasts, the cells responsible for making bone. It attaches to the surface of osteoblast cells or matrix vesicles.

Background: The unregulated use of pesticides by farmers, for crop productivity results in widespread contamination of organophosphates in real environmental samples, which is a growing societal concern about their potential health effects. The conventional approaches for the monitoring these organophosphate-based pesticides which include immunoassays, electrochemical methods, immunosensors, various chromatography techniques, along with some spectroscopic methods, are either costly, sophisticated, or involves the use of different metal complexes. Therefore, there is an urgent need for sensitive, quick, and easy-to-use detection techniques for the screening of widely used organophosphate-based pesticides.
