Background Dental caries in children's permanent teeth remains a global burden. In contrast to the traditional approach of treating the disease through surgical operative intervention, minimum intervention has increasingly been recommended for managing children with dental caries.Aim This scoping review aimed to describe the literature related to the provision of minimum intervention dentistry for children with caries and to identify research gaps. Methods Electronic databases (Medline via Ovid, PubMed, Web of Science and Scopus) were searched, together with grey literature databases, and key organisation websites. Data was extracted on a piloted extraction template and a thematic analysis was undertaken. Results Sixty-seven relevant articles were identified. No empirical literature was identified that assessed a complete minimum intervention care pathway to managing caries. Five themes were identified from the scoping literature: evidence base, clinician attitude and skills, practice implementation, acceptability and environmental factors. Conclusions The majority of articles were opinion papers. There is a paucity of empirical evidence supporting the clinical and cost-effectiveness of a minimum intervention pathway for children with dental caries in primary dental care. The scoping review has identified some potential barriers to the implementation of such a care pathway, including regulatory and remunerative frameworks and clinical training/education.

Background And Objective: Limited information is available on the pharmacokinetics of rifampicin (RIF) along with that of its active metabolite, 25-deacetylrifampicin (25-dRIF). This study aimed to analyse the pharmacokinetic data of RIF and 25-dRIF collected in adult patients treated for tuberculosis.
Methods: In adult patients receiving 10 mg/kg of RIF as part of a standard regimen for drug-susceptible pulmonary tuberculosis enrolled in the Opti-4TB study, plasma RIF and 25-dRIF concentrations were measured at various occasions.

Objective: To analyze acoustic measures of speech and vowel samples from individuals of different genders and to correlate these acoustic measures with vocal satisfaction. This study aims to provide additional data on acoustic measures, serving as references for clinicians while emphasizing the importance of moving beyond cisgender norms. Additionally, it addresses a gap in the Brazilian context by exploring correlations between acoustic measures and self-perceived vocal satisfaction across diverse gender groups.

This study was performed to evaluate whether the MIC Test Strip (MTS) quantitative assay for determining the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) correlated with the CLSI reference broth microdilution method (BMD) for antifungal susceptibility testing of wild-type and non-wild-type Aspergillus species isolated from cystic fibrosis patients against antifungal agents known to be usually effective against Aspergillus spp. This study was performed to assist in the decision-making process for possible deployment of the MTS assay for antimicrobial susceptibility testing of Aspergillus species into regional public health laboratories of Mycology due to difficulties in equipping the reference BMD methods in a laboratory routine. For this purpose, a set of 40 phenotypically diverse isolates (27 wild-type, 9 non-wild-type, and 4 species with reduced susceptibility to azoles and amphotericin B (AMB)) collected from clinical samples were tested.

Purpose: Maximal muscle strength is often assessed with single-joint or repetition-maximum testing. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the reliability of countermovement-jump (CMJ) velocity-load testing and assess the relationship between CMJ velocity-load kinetics and concentric-isometric-eccentric multijoint leg-extension strength tested on a robotic servomotor leg press in trained athletes.
Methods: University athletes (N = 203; 52% female) completed 3 concentric, isometric, and eccentric maximum voluntary leg-extension contractions on the robotic leg press, followed by CMJ velocity-load testing with an additional external load of 0% (CMJBW), 30% (CMJ30), and 60% (CMJ60) of body mass.
