The emergence of antibacterial resistance impacts healthcare networks globally, with mortality rates and linked burdens of infection disproportionately affecting the developing world. Rapid alternatives to antibiotic susceptibility testing (AST) allow for swifter, more effective treatment, though they are limited in use in low-resource settings due to significant cost barriers. Herein we demonstrate a simple, cost-effective diffraction sensing-based approach for rapidly detecting bacterial growth (a precursor to AST).

Photocatalysis is typically monitored via analysis of phases in isolation and focuses on the removal of a target analyte from the solution phase. Here we analyze the photocatalytic action of a TiO-nitrogen-doped graphene quantum dot (NGQD) composite on a target analyte, phenol, using comprehensive multiphase NMR (CMP-NMR) which observes signals in solid, solution, and gel phases . Phenol preferentially interacts with the composite photocatalyst compared to pure TiO, increasing its effective concentration near the catalyst surface and its degradation rate.

Objectives: The primary objectives of this study were to evaluate the change in glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) and its association to clinical activities. The secondary objective was to elucidate moderators of the relationship between pharmacist-involved collaborative care (PCC) and change in HbA1c.
Methods: This study was a retrospective cohort study conducted in a tertiary hospital over 12 months.

Photocatalysis has been oft proposed as a green solution for pollution remediation, however, majority of the existing literature only studies the degradation of solitary analytes. The degradation of mixtures of organic contaminants is inherently more complicated due to a variety of photochemical processes that occur in parallel. Here, we describe a model system comprised of methylene blue and methyl orange dyes whose degradation carried out by two common photocatalysts, P25 TiO and g-CN.

Hyperglycemia associated with diabetes mellitus is a significant risk factor for periodontitis and it polarizes the immune cells towards an inflammatory state. Specific biomaterials can deliver therapeutic or immunomodulatory agents to regulate the excessive periodontal inflammation. Dendritic cells (DCs) bridge the innate and adaptive immune systems and are crucially involved in periodontitis.
