Ubiquitylation is a post-translational modification that modulates protein function and stability. It is orchestrated by the concerted action of three types of enzymes, with substrate specificity governed by ubiquitin ligases (E3s), which may exist as single proteins or as part of multi-protein complexes. Although Cullin (CUL) proteins lack intrinsic enzymatic activity, they participate in the formation of active ubiquitin ligase complexes, known as Cullin-Ring ubiquitin Ligases (CRLs), through their association with ROC1 or ROC2, along with substrate adaptor and receptor proteins.

Notwithstanding the indefatigable endeavors to develop effective anti-mycobacterial therapies, mycobacterial infections still present a tough problem for medicine today. The problem is further complicated by the disquieting surge of drug-resistant mycobacterial pathogens, which considerably narrows the existing therapeutic options. Thus, there is a genuine need to discover novel anti-mycobacterial drugs.

Background And Aims: Despite accelerating interest in island evolution, the general evolutionary trajectories of island flowers remain poorly understood. In particular the island rule, which posits that small organisms become larger and large organisms to become smaller after island colonization, while tested in various plant traits, has never been tested in flower size. Here, we provide the first test for the island rule in flower size for animal- and wind-pollinated flowers, and the first evidence for generalized in-situ evolution of flower size on islands.

The manuscript provides an overview and discusses lessons learned about the pioneering role of the Mozambique Institute for Health Education and Research (MIHER) as the first research support center (RSC) in supporting the management of research grants in Mozambique, emphasizing its impact on research capacity development. Using mixed methods, data were comprehensively collected to identify MIHER's primary achievements from 2010 to 2023.
