Objectives: Historically in medicine and beyond, the understanding of and treatment of pain is based on finding tissue injury. The fact that for chronic pain, there often is no (longer) any traceable tissue injury, in combination with the fact that pain essentially is a private experience, poses a challenge for clinical communication. This paper therefore examines how pain is linguistically and interactionally constructed as invisible.

Background: One in four persons living with dementia are admitted to hospital, presenting challenges to them, their carers and staff. Despite global evidence demonstrating the clinical and cost-effectiveness of person-centered care (PCC), it is not yet business as usual across healthcare settings. We used multi-level stakeholder input to implement Kitwood's PCC model into a sub-acute setting.

Automatic memory associations between trauma reminders and cannabis use have been suggested as contributing mechanisms. These associations can be studied experimentally by manipulating trauma cue exposure in a cue-reactivity paradigm (CRP) and examining effects on the accessibility of cannabis information in memory in trauma survivors with and without PTSD.

Reductive amination is one of the most synthetically direct routes to access chiral amines. Several Imine Reductases (IREDs) have been discovered to catalyze reductive amination (Reductive Aminases or RedAms), yet they are dependent on the expensive phosphorylated nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide cofactor NADPH and usually more active at basic pH. Here, we describe the discovery and synthetic potential of an IRED from (RedAm) that catalyzes reductive amination between a series of medium to large carbonyl and amine compounds with conversions of up to >99% and 99% enantiomeric excess at neutral pH.
