Unlabelled: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has made it mandatory for people all over the world to wear facial masks to prevent the spread of the virus. The conventional face recognition systems used for security purposes have become ineffective in the current situation since the face mask covers most of the important facial features such as nose, mouth, etc. making it very difficult to recognize the person. We have proposed a system that uses the deep metric learning technique and our own FaceMaskNet-21 deep learning network to produce 128-d encodings that help in the face recognition process from static images, live video streams, as well as, static video files. We achieved a testing accuracy of 88.92% with an execution time of fewer than 10 ms. The ability of the system to perform masked face recognition in real-time makes it suitable to recognize people in CCTV footage in places like malls, banks, ATMs, etc. Due to its fast performance, our system can be used in schools and colleges for attendance, as well as in banks and other high-security zones to grant access to only the authorized ones without asking them to remove the mask.

Neural representations for visual stimuli typically emerge with a bilateral distribution across occipitotemporal cortex (OTC)? Pediatric patients undergoing unilateral OTC resection offer an opportunity to evaluate whether representations for visual stimulus individuation can sufficiently develop in a single OTC. Here, we assessed the non-resected hemisphere of patients with pediatric resection within ( = 9) and outside ( = 12) OTC, as well as healthy controls' two hemispheres ( = 21). Using functional magnetic resonance imaging, we mapped category selectivity (CS), and representations for visual stimulus individuation (for faces, objects, and words) with repetition suppression (RS).

Affective Theory of Mind (ToM) is the ability to understand other peoples' emotional states and feelings. Several studies showed impaired affective ToM abilities in people with Parkinson's disease (PD). However, most studies tested this ability by using single-stimulus modality tasks (visual cues).

The aim of the current study was to investigate visual scan patterns for the self-face in infants with the ability to recognize themselves with a photograph. 24-month-old infants (N = 32) were presented with faces including the self-face in the upright or inverted orientation. We also measured infants' ability to recognize oneself in a mirror and with a photograph.

Lithofacies classification and identification are of great significance in the exploration and evaluation of tight sandstone reservoirs. Existing methods of lithofacies identification in tight sandstone reservoirs face issues such as lengthy manual classification, strong subjectivity of identification, and insufficient sample datasets, which make it challenging to analyze the lithofacies characteristics of these reservoirs during oil and gas exploration. In this paper, the Fuyu oil formation in the Songliao Basin is selected as the target area, and an intelligent method for recognizing the lithophysics reservoirs in tight sandstone based on hybrid multilayer perceptron (MLP) and multivariate time series (MTS-Mixers) is proposed.

Background And Objectives: In the current global health landscape, there is an increasing demand for rapid and accurate assessment of mental states. Traditional assessment methods typically rely on face-to-face interactions, which are not only time-consuming but also highly subjective. Addressing this issue, this study aims to develop a client-server-based, non-contact multimodal emotion and behavior recognition system to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of mental state assessments.
