Background: Sulfasalazine (SSZ) is commonly prescribed for the treatment of ulcerative colitis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. However, it can also trigger a severe drug reaction known as Drug Reaction with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms (DRESS) or Drug-Induced Hypersensitivity Syndrome (DIHS). This article aims to analyze the clinical characteristics of DRESS/DIHS induced by SSZ and provide evidence for clinical diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.

Cyclophilin F (PPIF) is a major component of the mitochondrial permeability transition pore (mPTP) and acts as a critical mPTP sensitizer triggering mPTP opening. Background: Calcineurin inhibitors (CNIs) are associated with long-term complications after heart transplantation (HTx). Everolimus (EVR)-based immunosuppression allows for CNI withdrawal. We used data from The Scandinavian heart transplant everolimus de novo study with early CNI avoidance (SCHEDULE) trial to assess whether health-related quality of life (HRQoL) differed between patients on long-term treatment with EVR versus a CNI-based regimen.
