In this study, sodium acetate (NaAC) as a co-substrate effectively promoted the metabolism of sulfamethoxazole (SMX) by microalgae Chlorella pyrenoidosa. In the cultivation supplied with 5.0 and 10.0 g L NaAC, 51.1% and 61.2% SMX was removed, respectively. On this basis, the improvement effect of plant hormone gibberellin (GA) on SMX removal by 5 g L NaAC supplied as co-substrate was further investigated. The results showed that biodegradation played decisive role in the removal of SMX. As a plant hormone, GA effectively improved the co-metabolic removal efficiency of SMX by C. pyrenoidosa. Especially when GA dosage reached 10.0 and 50.0 mg L, C. pyrenoidosa showed a very high SMX removal rate of 83.5% and 95.3%, respectively. Transcriptome analysis showed that GA promoted the removal of SMX by C. pyrenoidosa was the result of the combined action of exogenous and endogenous plant hormones.

Background: N6-methyladenosine (m6A) is one of the most conserved internal RNA modifications, which has been implicated in many biological processes, such as apoptosis and proliferation. Wilms tumor 1-associating protein (WTAP), as a key component of m6A methylation, is a nuclear protein that has been associated with the regulation of proliferation and apoptosis. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), a systemic, infiltrating autoimmune disease, is characterized by synovial hyperplasia.

Role of Abscisic Acid in the Whole-Body Regulation of Glucose Uptake and Metabolism.

Abscisic acid (ABA) is a hormone with a long evolutionary history, dating back to the earliest living organisms, of which modern (ABA-producing) cyanobacteria are likely descendants, which existed long before the separation of the plant and animal kingdoms, with a conserved role as signals regulating cell responses to environmental challenges. In mammals, along with the anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective function of ABA, nanomolar ABA regulates the metabolic response to glucose availability by stimulating glucose uptake in skeletal muscle and adipose tissue via an insulin-independent mechanism and increasing metabolic energy production and also dissipation in brown and white adipocytes. Chronic ABA intake of micrograms per Kg body weight improves blood glucose, lipids, and morphometric parameters (waist circumference and body mass index) in borderline subjects for prediabetes and metabolic syndrome.
