The expanding prevalence of microbial resistance to conventional treatments has triggered a race to develop alternative/improved strategies to combat drug-resistant microorganisms in an efficient manner. Here, the lethal impact of the biosynthesized gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) against multi-drug resistant (MDR) bacteria has been elucidated. AuNPs, synthesized from the extracts of the fruit, leaf and peel of the Citrus maxima plant, were physicochemically characterized by UV-Vis spectrophotometry, Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), electron microscopy and spectroscopic techniques not only confirmed the production of AuNPs of size below 100 nm but also identified the phytochemicals adsorbed onto the surface of NPs.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is among the most common neurodevelopmental conditions in humans. While public awareness of the challenges faced by individuals with autism is steadily increasing, the underlying causes of abnormalities observed in ASD remains incompletely understood. The autism spectrum is notably broad, with symptoms that can manifest in various forms and degrees of severity.

Objective: Accumulation of hydrophobic bile acids is linked with cancer development. However, derivatives of deoxycholic acid (DCA) and lithocholic acid (LCA) produced via bacterial metabolism may mitigate the proinflammatory and cytotoxic effects of hydrophobic bile acids. The impact of diet on secondary bile acid (BA) derivative production has not been determined.

serovar Mbandaka, a prevalent foodborne pathogen, poses a threat to public health but remains poorly understood. We have determined the phylogenomic tree, genetic diversity, virulence, and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) profiles on a large genomic scale to elucidate the evolutionary dynamics within the Mbandaka pan-genome. The polyphyletic nature of this serovar is characterized by two distinct phylogenetic groups and inter-serovar recombination boundaries, that potentially arising from recombination events at the H2-antigen loci.

Background: Risk factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD) and sleep health are well-known to be sex- and race-specific. To build on the established relationship between sleep duration and CVD risk, this cross-sectional study aimed to describe sex-specific associations between CVD risk and other sleep characteristics (sleep quality, sleep timing and sleep onset latency) in low-income adults of African descent.
Methods: Self-reported sleep (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index [PSQI], Epworth Sleepiness Scale [ESS], Insomnia Severity Index [ISI]), demographic and lifestyle data were collected in 412 adults (56 % women, 35.
