Several species of the genus are used by Amazonian indigenous communities to treat injuries, pain and inflammations, which is directly related to the presence of phenolic compounds in these species. Many studies have addressed the phytochemical relevance of this genus, but they are still few considering the large number of species. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the chemical composition of leaves in order to find compounds with potential pharmacological application and economic interest. The developed method allowed the isolation and identification of 8 compounds in the ethanol extract of : eucryphin, neoastilbin, astilbin, neoisoastilbin, isoastilbin, quercitrin, engeletin and isoengeletin. Astilbin stands out for having been isolated directly from the fractionation of the extract by SPE with high yield. This study was a pioneer for and revealed the potential of the species as an abundant source of compounds of pharmacological and economic interest.

The occurrence of off-flavor in osmanthus absolutes has emerged as a significant concern that could hinder its broad market acceptance and associated economic development. In this study, key off-flavor molecules in industrial osmanthus absolute were identified through sensomics and chemometric approaches. A group of 10 off-flavor (OF) samples, eliciting smoky/phenolic, sweaty/sour, and spicy odors, were compared with 10 pleasant aroma (PA) samples through various analyses, including overall aroma assessment, comprehensive chemical profiling, aroma extract dilution analysis (AEDA), and orthogonal partial least-squares-discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA).

Introduction: In response to continued public health emergency of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), a significant key strategy is the discovery of novel mycobacterial efflux-pump inhibitors (EPIs) as potential adjuvants in combination drug therapy. Interest in identifying new chemotypes which could potentially synergize with the existing antibiotics and can be deployed as part of a combination therapy. This strategy could delay the emergence of resistance to existing antibiotics and increase their efficacy against resistant strains of mycobacterial species.
