Dementia is currently the seventh leading cause of death and one of the major causes of disability and dependency among older adults globally. Its final stages are complicated by a multitude of problems that can cause immense suffering. This article explores the interconnection between advanced dementia and palliative care and the role of nurses in providing end-of-life care for these patients.
