Published: March 2022

α-Chloromethylketimines have been obtained through a gold-catalyzed hydroamination of aromatic and aliphatic 1-chloroalkynes with aromatic amines by using equimolar amounts of both reagents. This procedure has allowed the preparation and spectroscopic characterization of α-chloromethylketimines for the first time with a high degree of purity, complete conversion, and atom economy. The synthetic usefulness of the methodology has been demonstrated with the preparation of β-chloroamines and indoles.

Palladium-Catalyzed Alkoxycarbonylation of Alcohols for the Synthesis of Cyclobutanecarboxylates with α-Quaternary Carbon Centers.

A palladium-catalyzed alkoxycarbonylation with two different alcohols for the synthesis of cyclobutanecarboxylates bearing an α-quaternary carbon center is presented. The reaction utilizes readily accessible starting materials, tolerates a broad scope of functional groups, and provides a straightforward and efficient approach for the synthesis of a diverse array of cyclobutanecarboxylates bearing an α-quaternary carbon. Meanwhile, this strategy effectively prevents the transition-metal-catalyzed ring-opening of cyclobutanols, preserves the cyclobutane framework, and affords 1,1-disubstituted cyclobutanecarboxylates in high yields with excellent regioisomeric ratios.

This study introduces a new method for synthesizing Cu-containing metastable phases through ion exchange. Traditionally, CuCl has been used as a Cu ion source for solid-state ion exchanges; however, its thermodynamic driving force is often insufficient for complete ion exchange with Li-containing precursors. First-principles calculations have identified CuSO and CuPO as more powerful alternatives, providing a higher driving force than CuCl.

The unique adhesion capabilities of soft-bodied creatures such as leeches and octopuses have provided considerable inspiration for the development of artificial adhesive materials. However, previous studies have either focused on the design of sucker structures or concentrated on the synthesis of adhesive materials, with the combination of these two aspects not yet having been deeply investigated. In this study, inspired from leech's unique adsorption ability, a biomimetic approach is proposed that combined artificial sucker and mucus, to achieve remarkable adhesion stability on rough surfaces using 5 cm diameter silicone suction cups.
