This investigation evaluated the surgical interventions available for uterine rupture, emphasizing laparoscopic repair subsequent to uterine rupture. Laparoscopic repair serves as a fertility-sustaining alternative to conventional laparotomy, demonstrating comparable operative durations of 80 min (interquartile range [IQR] 60-114) for laparoscopic procedures versus 78 min (IQR 58-114) for laparotomy interventions.

Background: Cystic echinococcosis has a low incidence even in endemic countries. It is a chronic and complex zoonosis that in many cases presents delay in diagnosis; it typically affects the liver in up to 90% of the cases, being disseminated pulmonary disease the most common in young subjects, while the rate of cases located only in the pulmonary parenchyma is low. In Mexico it is considered a disease of low endemicity.

This report describes the case of a patient in her late teens with fragile X syndrome, developmental delay, and recurrent urinary tract infections who presented to the emergency department with a productive cough, weight loss, and being generally unwell over the past few weeks. She was found to have a firm, distended abdomen and, while being investigated for sepsis of unknown source, deteriorated rapidly and was intubated and ventilated in the intensive care unit (ICU). After multiple imaging studies, she was diagnosed with left ureteric rupture secondary to a left distal ureteric calculus, resulting in a urinoma in the left retroperitoneal space.
