Lip Epidermoid Cyst Caused by a Piercing: A Report of a Rare Case.

We report the case of a lip epidermoid cyst, caused by piercing in a 23-year-old Japanese woman. She had an exophytic lesion in the lower lip associated with the piercing which was initially diagnosed as a mucous retention cyst. The lesion was resected under local anesthesia, and pathological examination revealed an epidermoid cyst, likely caused by piercings. Piercing-induced epidermoid cysts frequently occur in the tragus. There have been no reports of piercing-induced epidermoid cysts developing in the oral cavity. To our knowledge, this is the first report of a lip epidermal cyst caused by piercings. Six months have passed since the operation, and it has not recurred.

Background: Cutaneous melanoma is the leading cause of death from cutaneous malignancy and tends to metastasize lymphatically and hematogenously to the lung, liver, brain, and bone; it is a rare source of metastatic disease to the eye. Background: Microsatellite instability-high (MSI-H) metastatic colorectal cancer (CRC) patients are the dominant population in immune checkpoint blockade treatments, while more than half of them could not benefit from single-agent immunotherapy. We tried to identify the biomarker of MSI-H CRC and explore its role and mechanism in anti-PD-1 treatments. Tumor-specific MHC-II was linked to a better response to anti-PD-1 in MSI-H CRC and CD74 promoted assembly and transport of HLA-DR dimers.

Pain associated with cancer is often the first symptom reported with major repercussions on patient's quality of life. Mechanical compression, release of algogenic substances by the tumor or the complications of oncologic treatment represent the major causes. Nociceptive and neuropathic pain are both induced by different mediators that give rise to a neuroinflammation creating a peripheral and central sensitization responsible of chronic pain.
