We present the draft genome sequences of two bacterial strains that are putatively unique species and belong to two different Gram-negative genera: sp. EWG9 and sp. EMC7, recovered from the gut and cast, respectively, of the compost worm Eisenia fetida.

While studying the prevalence and profile of antibiotic resistance among isolated from the feces of calves with signs of colibacillosis, a strain with a wide spectrum of drug resistance was isolated. Whole-genome sequencing, followed by bioinformatic processing and the annotation of genes of this strain, showed that the genome has a total length of 4,803,482 bp and contains 4986 genes, including 122 RNA genes. A total of 31% of the genes are functionally significant and represent 26 functional groups.

Bioremediation induced by bacteria offers a promising alternative for the contamination of aromatic hydrocarbons due to their metabolic processes suitable for the removal of these pollutants, as many of them are carcinogenic molecules and dangerous to human health. Our research focused on isolating a bacterium from the rhizosphere of the tara tree with the ability to degrade polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, using draft genomic sequencing and computational analysis. sp.

: Infections caused by multidrug-resistant (MDR)bacteria pose a significant public health threat by worsening patient outcomes, contributing to hospital outbreaks, and increasing health and economic burdens. Advanced genomic tools enhance the detection of resistance genes, virulence factors, and high-risk clones, thus improving the management of MDR infections. In the Autonomous Community of Aragon, the diversity and incidence of carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae (CPE) have increased during the last years.

Development of Synthetic Antimicrobial Peptides Based on Genomic Analysis of Streptococcus salivarius.

J Clin Lab Anal

January 2025

Department of Research Analytics, Saveetha Dental College and Hospitals, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, Saveetha University, Chennai, India.

Background: In the oral environment, the production of bacteriocins or antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) plays a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance by impeding the proliferation of closely related microorganisms. This study aims to conduct in silico genome screening of Streptococcus salivarius to identify potential antimicrobial compounds existing as hypothetical peptides, with the goal of developing novel synthetic antimicrobial peptides.

Methods: Draft genomes of various oral Streptococcus salivarius strains were obtained from the NCBI database and subjected to analysis using bioinformatic tools, viz.
