In recent years, the consumption of nuts has shown an increasing trend worldwide. Nuts are an essential part of several countries' economies as an excellent source of nutrients and bioactive compounds. They are contaminated by environmental factors, improper harvesting practices, inadequate packaging procedures, improper storage, and transportation. The longer storage time also leads to the greater chances of contamination from pathogenic fungi. Nuts are infected with species, species, and Therefore, nuts are associated with a high risk of pathogens and mycotoxins, which demand the urgency of using techniques for enhancing microbial safety and shelf-life stability. Many techniques such as ozone, cold plasma, irradiation, radiofrequency have been explored for the decontamination of nuts. These techniques have different efficiencies for reducing the contamination depending on processing parameters, type of pathogen, and conditions of food material. This review provides insight into decontamination technologies for reducing microbial contamination from nuts.

Contamination of seafood products with multi-drug-resistant (MDR) bacteria is considered to be a potential source for the spread of MDR bacteria in communities. However, little is known about the extent of the contamination of seafood, in particular shrimp, with MDR bacteria in Saudi Arabia. In this study, imported frozen shrimp in retail markets were examined for the antimicrobial susceptibility patterns of .

Background: Salmonella enterica is a major cause of foodborne illness and mortality worldwide, but its presence in milk along the milk supply chain and associated public health risks are under-studied. This research was aimed to investigate the occurrence and antimicrobial susceptibility of Salmonella enterica in milk, milking environments, milkers' hands, and diarrheic patients in Wolaita Sodo, Ethiopia.
Methods: We collected 644 samples from 106 dairy farms that include direct milk from cow, bulk tank milk, milkers' hand swabs, teat surfaces swabs, farm floors swabs, milk storage containers swabs, collectors' bulk milk, retailers' bulk milk, and stool from diarrheic patients.

Managing infections caused by multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacilli is a major public health concern, particularly in hospitals where surfaces can act as reservoirs for resistant microorganisms. Identifying these bacteria in hospital environments is crucial for improving healthcare safety. This study aimed to analyse environmental samples from a veterinary hospital to identify prevalent microorganisms and detect antimicrobial resistance patterns.

Microcystin-LRs (MC-LR) produced by harmful cyanobacterial blooms (HCBs) pose significant hepatotoxic risks to both the environment and public health. Despite the identification and characterization of a limited number of MC-LR degrading bacteria, the challenge of safely removing MC-LRs from freshwater systems without disrupting aquatic ecosystems remains substantial. This study focused on the isolation of lactic acid bacteria from Bapshikhe, a traditional Korean fermented food, and investigated the mechanisms underlying the degradation of MC-LRs by these bacteria.

Food safety is a global challenge, with nearly 1 in 10 people worldwide falling ill each year from consuming contaminated food. The risk is particularly high in ready-to-eat (RTE) products, which are consumed without further cooking to eliminate harmful microorganisms. To address this, the University of Cordoba and the University of Bologna, in the framework of the EU-FORA programme, developed a training programme focused on quantitative microbial risk assessment (QMRA) for in RTE food processing chains, a significant public health concern due to its association with severe foodborne illnesses.
