For more than a year, the world has been exposed to the ongoing conflict in Gaza, and the destruction, medical devastation, and the death toll of this crisis. What has been largely missing from the picture, has been an attention to the long-term mental health impact of the ongoing trauma among the Palestinian civilians and the Israeli hostages in Gaza. This article anticipates the enduring generational impact of war trauma on mental health of the civilians in Gaza, drawing from the author's clinical and research experiences of Iraqi, Syrian, Afghan, African, and Ukrainian war-exposed civilians, refugees, and survivors of torture.

The ongoing conflict in Gaza has led to severe destruction of the health system and eventually its collapse. Moreover, multiple attacks on health workers were reported which led to obstacles in service delivery. The conflict has led to further humanitarian crises including shortage of food, water sanitation, and hygiene, and outbreaks of infectious diseases.

Negative health outcomes specifically impact women of all ages due to lack of access to menstrual products, prenatal and primary care, private bathrooms, medication, essential nutrition, and clean water. The massive destruction of infrastructure and consequent internal displacement of millions has led to a rise in infectious diseases.
