Immunocompromised populations, including cancer patients, elderly individuals, and those with chronic diseases, are the primary targets of superbugs. Traditional vaccines are less effective due to insufficient or impaired immune cells. Inspired by the "vanguard" effect of neutrophils (NE) during natural infection, this project leverages the ability of NE to initiate the NETosis program to recruit monocytes and DC cells, designing vaccines that can rapidly recruit immune cells and enhance the immune response.

Dietary components may affect health via multiple mechanisms, including by decreasing inflammation and affecting immune activation.
Objective: We hypothesized that the overall HEI-2015 score, or individual component scores, would be associated with altered inflammation and immune activation in healthy adults.

Gastric cancer (GC) remains a significant global health challenge. This study aimed to comprehensively analyze GC epidemiology and risk factors to inform prevention and intervention strategies. We analyzed the Global Burden of Disease Study 2021 data, conducted 16 different machine learning (ML) models of NHANES data, performed Mendelian randomization (MR) studies on disease phenotypes, dietary preferences, microbiome, blood-based markers, and integrated differential gene expression and expression quantitative trait loci (eQTL) data from multiple cohorts to identify factors associated with GC risk.

Introduction: Postoperative ileus (POI) is an iatrogenic disorder marked by temporary impaired gastrointestinal (GI) motility post-abdominal surgery. Surgical handling of the intestine activates resident macrophages (Mfs), leading to inflammatory cytokine release and leukocyte recruitment into the muscularis, which compromises intestinal contractility. The mechanisms behind this activation are unclear.

Background: Sepsis is a life-threatening condition arising from a dysregulated host response to infection leading to organ dysfunction. Traditional clinical signs are often unreliable for detecting sepsis, necessitating the exploration of more accurate biomarkers. Furthermore, currently, recommended screening scores perform poorly, necessitating more effective biomarkers to identify sepsis.
