A better understanding of how plants adjust their flowering under unfavourable environmental conditions is key to developing climate-resilient crops. Recently, Susila et al. demonstrated that phospholipids controlling the transport of florigen (FLOWERING LOCUS T; FT) act as an additional layer to prevent flowering under unfavourable conditions.

Maize is affected by drought and heat, abiotic stress factors that have been encountered more often in recent years in various parts of Europe. In the area of Turda, Romania, extreme temperatures and heat waves combined with an uneven distribution of precipitation have been recorded that had an unfavorable influence on the maize crop. In this study, the ASI (anthesis-to-silking interval), yield, and stability of 35 old and new maize hybrids created at the Agricultural Research and Development Station Turda were studied under drought and heat conditions.

Trace mercury contamination in groundwater poses a serious threat to ecological systems and human health. The kinetics and isotherms of MoS (MS) for Hg removal were studied in batch tests under an unfavorable high salinity and low mercury environment. Flower-like MS with nanosheets can effectively remove Hg in the groundwater matrix, with a shorter equilibrium time (3 h), superior removal efficiency (94.

Flavonoids represent a large class of phenolic specialized metabolites and play crucial roles in plant-environment interactions, including responses to biotic and abiotic factors. While the core flavonoid biosynthesis pathway is well known in several plant species, enzymes involved in modifying core flavonoid structures, furnishing them with distinct biological activities, continue to be identified. Anthocyanins, a specific type of flavonoid pigment, serve various functions, including attracting pollinators and seed-dispersing organisms when accumulated in flowers and seeds.

The bile acid sodium symporter (BASS) family plays an important role in transporting substances and coordinating plants' salt tolerance. However, the function of in has not yet been elucidated. In this study, eight genes distributed on five chromosomes were identified that belonged to four subfamilies.
