Metallothioneins (MTs) constitute a heterogeneous family of ubiquitous metal ion-binding proteins. In plants, MTs participate in the regulation of cell growth and proliferation, protection against heavy metal stress, oxidative stress responses, and responses to pathogen attack. Despite their wide variety of functions, the role of MTs in symbiotic associations, specifically nodule-fabacean symbiosis, is poorly understood. Here, we analyzed the role of the gene in - symbiosis using bioinformatics and reverse genetics approaches. Using in silico analysis, we identified six genes encoding MTs in , which were clustered into three of the four classes described in plants. transcript levels were significantly higher in roots inoculated with at 7 and 30 days post inoculation (dpi) than in non-inoculated roots. Functional analysis showed that downregulating by RNA interference (RNAi) reduced the number of infection events at 7 and 10 dpi and the number of nodules at 14 and 21 dpi. In addition, nodule development was negatively affected in :RNAi transgenic roots, and these nodules displayed a reduced nitrogen fixation rate at 21 dpi. These results strongly suggest that plays an important role in the infection process and nodule development in during rhizobial symbiosis.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to explore and develop a preoperative and noninvasive model for predicting spread through air spaces (STAS) status in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) with diameter ≤ 3 cm.
Methods: This multicenter retrospective study included 640 LUAD patients. Center I included 525 patients (368 in the training cohort and 157 in the validation cohort); center II included 115 patients (the test cohort).

We report the case of a 75-year-old woman who presented with fever, right back pain, paresthesia in the right extremities, erythema, purpura, and nodules. She had previously initiated dialysis due to rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis and was transferred to our hospital. Imaging studies revealed multiple cerebral and splenic infarcts and hemorrhage encapsulating the right kidney, likely due to microaneurysms in multiple renal arteries.

Background: Vaccine granulomas are a common (0.3-1%) adverse event (AE) of (accidentally) subcutaneously administered vaccines and specific immunotherapies containing aluminum conjugates. The clinical symptoms with persistent itching subcutaneous nodules, predominantly affect infants and young children on the lateral thigh.

Synovial chondromatosis (SC) is a rare, benign joint disorder characterized by cartilaginous nodule formation within the synovial membrane. While SC typically affects larger joints such as the knee and hip, ankle involvement is exceptionally uncommon, with only a few cases documented in medical literature. We present a case of a 38-year-old male who experienced a rare presentation of recurrent ankle sprains and a palpable mass, ultimately diagnosed with SC in the ankle.

Background: An increase in the prevalence of lung cancer that is not smoking-related has been noticed in recent years. Unfortunately, these patients are not included in low dose computer tomography (LDCT) screening programs and are not actually considered in early diagnosis. Therefore, improved early diagnosis methods are urgently needed for non-smokers.
