Exploiting biomass to synthesise compounds that may replace fossil-based ones is of high interest in order to reduce dependence on non-renewable resources. 1,2-pentanediol and 1,5-pentanediol can be produced from furfural, furfuryl alcohol or tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol following a metal catalysed hydrogenation/C-O cleavage procedure. Colloidal ruthenium nanoparticles stabilized with polyvinylpyrrolidone in situ modified with different organic compounds are able to produce 1,2-pentanediol directly from furfural in a 36% of selectivity at 125 °C under 20 bar of H pressure.

Boosting the durability of RuO via confinement effect for proton exchange membrane water electrolyzer.

Ruthenium dioxide has attracted extensive attention as a promising catalyst for oxygen evolution reaction in acid. However, the over-oxidation of RuO into soluble HRuO species results in a poor durability, which hinders the practical application of RuO in proton exchange membrane water electrolysis. Here, we report a confinement strategy by enriching a high local concentration of in-situ formed HRuO species, which can effectively suppress the RuO degradation by shifting the redox equilibrium away from the RuO over-oxidation, greatly boosting its durability during acidic oxygen evolution.

The five-coordinate complex [RuCl(PNP)] () was synthesized from the binuclear [RuCl(-cym)] with a PNP-type ligand (PNP = 3,6-di--butyl-1,8-bis(dipropylphosphino)methyl)-9-carbazole - (Cbzdiphos )H) in a toluene solution, within 20 h at 110 °C, producing a green solid, which was precipitated with a 1/1 mixture of - pentane/HMDSO. The complex was characterized by NMR-H, C, and P{H}, mass spectroscopy-LIFDI, FTIR, UV/vis spectroscopy, and cyclic voltammetry, as well as a description of the optimized structure by DFT calculation. The reactivity of was investigated in the presence of potassium triethylborohydride (KBEtH, in THF solution of 1.

The discovery of nanozymes has opened new possibilities for tumor therapy. However, their reliance on the tumor microenvironment and limited catalytic efficiency hinder broader applications. In this study, ruthenium-phenanthroline nanoparticles (Ru-Phs) are synthesized by combining ruthenium with phenanthroline and subsequently coloaded with the proton pump inhibitor (PPI) pantoprazole into sodium alginate (ALG) to form a Ru-Phs-PPI-ALG hydrogel for in situ tumor therapy.

Advanced Ruthenium-Based Electrocatalysts for NO Reduction to Ammonia.

Ammonia (NH) is widely recognized as a crucial raw material for nitrogen-based fertilizer production and eco-friendly hydrogen-rich fuels. Currently, the Haber-Bosch process still dominates the worldwide industrial NH production, which consumes substantial energy and contributes to enormous CO emission. As an alternative NH synthesis route, electrocatalytic reduction of NO species (NO , NO , and NO) to NH has gained considerable attention due to its advantages such as flexibility, low power consumption, sustainability, and environmental friendliness.

Electronic address:

Insufficient drug delivery efficiency in vivo and robust drug resistance are two major factors to induce suboptimal efficacy in chemotherapy of osteosarcoma (OS). To address these challenges, we developed polysaccharide hyaluronic acid (HA)-functionalized ruthenium nanoaggregates (Ru NAs) to enhance the chemotherapy of doxorubicin (DOX) for OS. These NAs, comprising Ru nanoparticles (NPs) and alendronate-modified HA (HA-ALN), effectively load DOX, resulting in DOX@Ru-HA-ALN NAs.
