In 2021, the Adolescents 360 (A360) project pursued a human-centered design (HCD) process to layer complementary economic empowerment components on top of its existing sexual and reproductive health (SRH) interventions targeting adolescent girls aged 15 to 19. Given the volume of evidence informing successful approaches for improving economic and empowerment outcomes for adolescents, we pursued an intentionally evidence-informed and gender-intentional design process, while trying to also respond directly to user insights. In this open letter, we share how we utilized and validated the evidence-base while applying the core tenets of HCD (empathy and user insights) to design holistic, layered programming for girls.

Background: Women are estimated to hold between 70 and 75% of global health positions worldwide yet persistent inequities in power and leadership remain. There is little information on specific enablers and barriers that women working in public health face in India and how those compare with other regions.
Methods: We collected and analyzed information from women working in public health in India and East Africa (Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda) and in global health (Canada and United States), to understand and document the specific enablers and barriers women face in India, compared with other regions.
Background: The Compassion, Inclusion and Engagement initiative (CIE) was a social contact intervention that operated in British Columbia between 2015 and 2021. The primary objective of CIE was to increase the participation of people with lived experience of substance use (PWLE) in the planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of harm reduction supports and services.
Case Presentation: CIE used the developmental evaluation methodology outcome mapping to define and measure progress towards its goals.
