Emotion processing is an integral part of everyone's life. The basic neural circuits involved in emotion perception are becoming clear, though the emotion's cognitive processing remains under investigation. Utilizing the stereo-electroencephalograph with high temporal-spatial resolution, this study aims to decipher the neural pathway responsible for discriminating low-arousal and high-arousal emotions.

Socioeconomic status (SES) is associated with well-being outcomes across studies; however, there is wide variation in its measurement, particularly in adolescence. One key difference in measures of SES concerns whether participants relay objective information-for example, years of education, household income-or subjective perceptions of socioeconomic status, either with or without reference to others or society. Although parents are often considered the best source of SES information-especially objective SES-within families, interviewing parents within the context of adolescent research is costly, time-consuming, and not always feasible.

Introduction: Sharing patient health information and biospecimens can improve health outcomes and accelerate breakthroughs in medical research. But patients generally lack understanding of how their clinical data and biospecimens are used or commercialized for research. In this mixed methods project, we assessed the impact of communication materials on patient understanding, attitudes, and perceptions.

Perceptibility and Acceptability Thresholds for Color Differences in Ceramic Shade Tabs: A Comparison Between Dentists and Patients.

J Clin Exp Dent

December 2024

D.D.S., M.S., Ph.D. Clinical Associate Professor. Department of Restorative Dental Sciences, University of Florida, College of Dentistry, 1395 Center Drive, College of Dentistry, Gainesville, FL, United States.

Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the 50%:50% perceptibility thresholds (PT) and acceptability thresholds (AT) for color differences in ceramic shade tabs observed by dentists and patients using CIEDE2000 color difference formula.

Material And Methods: Twenty-two combinations of ceramic shade tabs from the VITA 3D Master shade guide were assembled to be used for the visual comparison analyses. The color difference between each shade tab pair was numerically determined by spectrophotometry using the VITA EasyShade V, and calculated using the CIEDE2000 formula (ΔE00).
