Facial reconstruction is a technique that can be used to estimate individual faces from human skulls. The presentation of 3D facial reconstructions as photo-realistic depictions of people from the past to public audiences varies widely due to differing methods, the artists' CGI skillset, and access to VFX software required to generate plausible faces. This chapter describes three digital methods for the addition of realistic textures to 3D facial reconstructions; a 2D photo-composite method, a 3D digital painting and rendering method, and a previously undescribed hybrid 2.5D method. These methods are compared and discussed in relation to artistic proficiency, morphological accuracy and practitioner bias.

Raisins are so popular in the human diet as a nutritional and sweet snack. The quality of this foodstuff depends on drying conditions. To minimize ochratoxin A (OTA) content and yeast and mold content (YMC) in raisins with favorable physicochemical and sensory properties, the response surface methodology (RSM) and the face-centered central composite design (FCCD) were utilized.

Background: Noninvasive aesthetic procedures for facial rejuvenation are gaining popularity. Conventional treatments, such as radiofrequency (RF) and high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU), primarily improve skin quality but do not address the deeper musculoaponeurotic structures that affect facial laxity. A novel approach that delivers synchronized RF with high intensity facial electrical stimulation (HIFES) thought to target both the skin and underlying musculoaponeurotic framework to effectively enhance facial laxity has been investigated.

Pain assessment in trigeminal neuralgia (TN) mouse models is essential for exploring its pathophysiology and developing effective analgesics. However, pain assessment methods for TN mouse models have not been widely studied, resulting in a critical gap in our understanding of TN. With the rapid advancement of deep learning, numerous pain assessment methods based on deep learning have emerged.

Background: Recently, autologous cultured fibroblast and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapies have been attempted for skin rejuvenation. Unlike PRP, grafted fibroblasts not only produce connective tissue but also influence the surrounding environment through a paracrine effect. Fibroblast-derived cytokines interact with and are modulated by neighboring tissue-constituting cells.
