Carbon dioxide (CO) and the combustion of sulfide in gasoline are the main causes of air pollution. A great deal of attention has been paid to solving the problem and the catalytic reaction seems to be a decent choice. Due to the high-density of Lewis acidic active sites, polyoxometalates are undoubtedly an ideal choice for the sulfur oxidation reaction. With the reasons foregoing, two novel Zn-capped polyoxometalate-based organic-inorganic hybrids, {[α-PMoV2MoVI10O(OH)Zn][bbbm]}·0.5CHOH (1) and TBA{[ε-PMoV8MoVI4O(OH)Zn][phim]} (2) ((where bbbm = 1-(4-imidazol-1-ylbutyl) imidazole) and phim = 2-phenylimidazole) were successfully obtained by hydrothermal synthesis. In the two compounds, the N-donor ligands in a monodentate or bidentate coordination mode are directly connected to the Keggin anions by Zn-capped atoms, forming an extended one-dimensional chain. It is noteworthy that compound 2 ends up with an interesting spiral infinite chain possibly thanks to the TBA cations residing in gaps as structure-directing agents. Simultaneously, the catalytic properties indicate that compounds 1 and2 as efficient heterogeneous catalysts display a decent catalytic activity in the sulfur removal process. Especially, 2 enabled satisfying catalytic oxidation of dibenzothiophene (DBT) to produce more valuable dibenzothiophene sulfone (DBTO) at 55 °C, and the conversion almost reached 99%. Besides, compound 2 also shows satisfactory catalytic effectiveness in the oxidation of various epoxides in the CO cycloaddition reaction, which suggests that compound 2 has the potential to function as a dual functional material with tremendous prospects in sulfur oxidation and carbon dioxide cycloaddition for the first time.

In this comprehensive analysis of Chile's air quality dynamics spanning 2016 to 2021, the utilization of data from the National Air Quality Information System (SINCA) and its network of monitoring stations was undertaken. Quintero, Puchuncaví, and Coyhaique were the focal points of this study, with the primary objective being the construction of predictive models for sulfur dioxide (SO2), fine particulate matter (PM2.5), and coarse particulate matter (PM10).

Carbonyl sulfide hydrolase (COSase) is a unique enzyme that exhibits high activity towards carbonyl sulfide (COS) but low carbonic anhydrase (CA) activity, despite belonging to the CA family. COSase was initially identified in a sulfur-oxidizing bacterium and later discovered in the ascomycete Trichoderma harzianum strain THIF08. The COSase from T.

This study addresses the critical issue of irreversible oxidation in hypochlorite (ClO⁻) sensing by a phenothiazine-based compound, which typically leads to the probe's degradation and loss of functionality. We introduce a novel fluorescence probe, (2-(5-(10 H-phenothiazin-10-yl)thiophen-2-yl)-1 H-benzo[d]imidazol-6-yl)(phenyl)methanone (PTH-BP), specifically designed to enhance ClO⁻ detection efficiency. PTH-BP exhibits strong aggregation-induced emission (AIE), emitting deep orange fluorescence at 620 nm with a large Stokes shift of 195 nm, and achieves an impressive detection limit of 1 nM in ACN/PBS buffer solutions.

We have employed a triazine-based conjugated polymer network (CPN) for the selective detection of hypochlorite in a semi-aqueous environment. CPNs have been widely employed in gas capture, separation, and adsorption, but the fluorescent properties of CPNs possessing extensive π-conjugated systems tend to be unexplored. Herein, we report the photophysical properties of the CPN and investigate its sensing capability towards hypochlorite.
