Article Synopsis
  • User comments on social media play a key role in differentiating between fake and real news, but the interaction patterns in comment sections haven't been thoroughly studied.
  • This research analyzes a dataset from Reddit to examine how users interact in terms of sentiment and network structure, finding that real news generates more positive and neutral sentiments compared to the negative sentiments associated with fake news.
  • The study also reveals that users with similar sentiments cluster together more closely than expected, and the sentiment distribution becomes stable over time, which could help in the early detection of fake and real news on social platforms.
