In this study, folate modified bovine serum albumin was successfully synthesized, while preparation of Nintedanib albumin microspheres (ND-FSA NPs) as a carrier was carried out via electrospinning technology. Folate modified albumin was used to enhance the targeting potential of the prepared microspheres. The prepared microspheres had spherical appearance and smooth outer surface. The diameters of microspheres (764.68 ± 88.46 nm) and zeta potential (- 18.38 ± 0.41 mV) were acceptable. The prepared ND-FSA NPs demonstrated a good degree of modification, wherein the modification rate was 28.1%. release was significantly increased in three different media (double deionized water-DDW, HCl-pH 1.2, and phosphate buffered solution containing 0.5% Tween 80). It is worth noting that incorporation of Nintedanib into folic acid modified albumin microspheres resulted in an enhanced uptake of the drug into MCF-7 breast cancer cells coupled with higher inhibition rate. Altogether, incorporation of Nintedanib into folate modified albumin microspheres is a new approach to improve water solubility and targeting effect of the drug.

Tumor heterogeneity, immune-suppressive microenvironment and the precise killing of tumor cells by drugs are important factors affecting tumor treatment. In this study, we developed environment-responsive drug delivery system (FM@IQ/PST&ZIF-8/DOX) based on ZIF-8 for tumor photothermal/immunotherapy/chemotherapy synergistic therapy. The prepared FM@IQ/PST&ZIF-8/DOX nanoplatfrom not only has highly drug loading capacity for chemotherapeutic drug-doxorubicin, but also erythrocyte membrance modified on their surface can endow their immunity-escaping property and prolong their blood circulation time.

Background: Melanoma is an aggressive skin tumor with limited therapeutic options due to rapid proliferation, early metastasis, and poor prognosis. Baicalin (BA), a natural flavonoid, shows promise in inducing ferroptosis and apoptosis but faces challenges of poor solubility and bioavailability. To address these issues, we developed a multifunctional drug delivery system: manganese-doped ZIF-8 nanoparticles (ZIF(Mn)) loaded with BA and modified with folic acid (FA) and polyethylene glycol (PEG).

Ovarian cancer, a highly lethal form of gynecological cancer globally, has witnessed notable advancements in its treatment through the integration of nanotechnology and immunotherapy. Here, we designed a novel astragalus polysaccharide vector (PDA), encapsulating podophyllotoxin (PPT), and modifying methotrexate (DSPE-PEG-MTX) on its surface for targeting ovarian cancer cells with high folate receptor expression. We prepared novel MTX-modified PPT-loaded astragalus polysaccharide micelles (MTX-PPT-micelles) by dialysis method and evaluated their characterization, stability, safety and targeting ability.

Introduction: The wealth of free food-based resources available to UK consumers on healthy eating and nutrition provides very limited illustrations of ethnic foods including African-Caribbean cuisines. This inequality in available resources limits the ability of African-Caribbean communities to effectively manage their health and reduces the cultural competence of health professionals.
Objective: The aim was to co-design healthier versions of several traditional African-Caribbean recipe resources by working in partnership with academics, a community-based Third Sector organisation, and their service-users.

Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a common systemic autoimmune inflammatory disease that can cause joint damage. We have recently reported that oral magnesium supplementation significantly reduces disease severity and joint damage in models of RA.
Methods: In the present study, we analyzed the transcriptome of spleens and synovial tissues obtained from mice with KRN serum-induced arthritis (KSIA) consuming either a high Mg supplemented diet (Mg2800; n = 7) or a normal diet (Mg500; n = 7).
