Published: January 2022

Teaching research activities (TRA) in China are practical and reflective research of teachers on teaching. These required activities are meant to ensure quality education and facilitate the professional development of teachers. However, in TRA, teachers encounter many challenges such as low efficiency and weak team collaboration. These problems make it hard to achieve the expected outcomes. reformed its activities using Change Laboratory, a formative intervention approach to workplace learning and development based on activity theory. The data collected included seven recorded meetings in the Change Laboratory. The conversations in the meetings were then transcribed into texts. A deductive method of content analysis was used to code the data, focusing on categorizing comments of teachers about the transformative agency. The findings showed the following: (1) There were five types of transformative agencies, namely, resisting, criticizing, explicating, envisioning, and committing to actions. Resisting and criticizing were represented less frequently, and taking action did not emerge as a type of transformative agency. (2) The comments about transformative agency about tools were more frequent than comments about other elements in the activity system. (3) There were some differences in the expression of transformative agency across participants. At the end of this study, the implications for the development of TRA are discussed.

In this contribution, we theorize generativity as a heuristic for impact-driven management scholars seeking to address grand challenges through research. We use generativity to connote the engagement of diverse actors in pluralistic inquiry to create conditions for future flourishing. Our theorization applies a pragmatist worldview and builds on insights from the multidisciplinary literature on generativity to envisage researchers as agents of care, collective learning, and transformative change.

Integrating Model-Informed Drug Development With AI: A Synergistic Approach to Accelerating Pharmaceutical Innovation.

Clin Transl Sci

January 2025

Global Biometrics and Data Management, Pfizer Research and Development, New York, New York, USA.

The pharmaceutical industry constantly strives to improve drug development processes to reduce costs, increase efficiencies, and enhance therapeutic outcomes for patients. Model-Informed Drug Development (MIDD) uses mathematical models to simulate intricate processes involved in drug absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion, as well as pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. Artificial intelligence (AI), encompassing techniques such as machine learning, deep learning, and Generative AI, offers powerful tools and algorithms to efficiently identify meaningful patterns, correlations, and drug-target interactions from big data, enabling more accurate predictions and novel hypothesis generation.

Targeted Covalent Modification Strategies for Drugging the Undruggable Targets.

Chem Rev

January 2025

Graduate School of Engineering, Department of Synthetic Chemistry and Biological Chemistry, Kyoto University, Katsura, Nishikyo-ku, Kyoto 615-8510, Japan.

The term "undruggable" refers to proteins or other biological targets that have been historically challenging to target with conventional drugs or therapeutic strategies because of their structural, functional, or dynamic properties. Drugging such undruggable targets is essential to develop new therapies for diseases where current treatment options are limited or nonexistent. Thus, investigating methods to achieve such drugging is an important challenge in medicinal chemistry.

Context: The impact of forced migration on the mental health of refugee men is far-reaching and compounded by gendered masculinity, which shapes men's access to employment and other resources. A gap in knowledge exists on the broader determinants of refugee men's mental health.

Methodology: Using community-based participatory action research and the arts-based method of photovoice, this study advances knowledge about the gendered impacts of forced migration from the perspective of ( = 11) Syrian refugee men in the Canadian context.
