Iodinated X-ray contrast media (ICM) are commonly detected at considerable concentrations in aquatic environments. The long-term pollution trends in ICM at the whole lake/river scale have not yet been investigated; therefore, the risks associated with ICM and the influences of environmental factors remain understudied. Herein, the occurrence and distribution of ICM in the surface water of Taihu Lake were comprehensively investigated.

Objectives: To establish a spectral CT-based nomogram for predicting the response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) in patients with locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC).
Methods: This retrospective study included 172 patients with ESCC who underwent spectral CT scans before NAC followed by resection. Based on postoperative tumor regression grades (TRG), 34% (58) of patients were responsive (TRG1) and 66% (114) were non-responsive (TRG2-3).
Iodine is a trace element that is required to produce thyroid hormone. Some preoperative skin antiseptics and contrast media that are used in a variety of specialties (eg, cardiovascular, urology) contain iodine. Clinicians and patients may believe that a history of a reaction to shellfish, povidone-iodine, or radiopaque contrast media is an allergy requiring avoidance of all three substances.

Although dual rule-out adapted to exclude aortic and pulmonary pathologies. Iodinated CM may result in contrast-induced nephropathy, which lengthens hospital stay.
