Identification of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) as a molecular target has radically changed the treatment of metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) from standard chemotherapy to personalized, targeted therapy. First-, second- and third-generation EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) are now available for the treatment of EGFR-mutant NSCLC patients. This review will focus on the clinical development of first- and second-generation EGFR TKIs. We will emphasize on essential points like the head-to-head comparison among EGFR TKIs, their activity on brain metastases, mechanisms of resistance, as well as their combination with anti-angiogenic compounds, other targeted therapies, or immunotherapy. The efficacy of first- and second-generation EGFR TKIs in early-stage -mutant NSCLC will be also finally reviewed.

In this article, we report the first case of a 61-year-old woman who was diagnosed with both nodules and cystic lesions in her lungs. The lung nodules were diagnosed as ALK-positive histiocytosis (APH) carrying an gene fusion, which microscopically displayed a mixed morphology of foamy cells, spindle cells, and Touton's giant cells. Immunohistochemistry showed expression of CD163, CD68, and ALK, while fluorescence hybridization (FISH) with second-generation sequencing (NGS) showed the ALK gene fusion with the FLCN gene variant.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common type of dementia. Monoclonal antibodies (MABs) serve as a promising therapeutic approach for AD by selectively targeting key pathogenic factors, such as amyloid-β (Aβ) peptide, tau protein, and neuroinflammation. Specifically, based on their efficacy in removing Aβ plaques from the brains of patients with AD, the U.

Objectives: We investigated the prevalence of drug resistance mutations (DRMs) in individuals newly diagnosed with HIV-1 in Estonia in 2020 and 2022, and in Ukrainian war refugees living with HIV who arrived in Estonia in 2022.

Methods: HIV-1 genomic RNA was sequenced in protease-reverse transcriptase and integrase regions. DRMs were determined separately by Stanford University CPR Tool and HIVdb Program.

Background: Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) treatment has significantly evolved with the introduction of tyrosine kinase inhibitors. However, access to these treatments and outcomes vary globally. This study examines 2 decades of CML management in Colombia using the RENEHOC registry, focusing on TKI efficacy, safety, and healthcare system challenges.
