Unlabelled: Describing and analyzing the electrocardiographic and echocardiographic profile of patients with heart failure (HF).

Methods: Documentary, retrospective, quantitative and descriptive research; data collected at the Hospital das Clinicas of Uberlandia with patients diagnosed with HF.

Results: 81 patients participated in this study, with the average age of 66.75 years, 4 to 6 years of formal education and family income of approximately two minimum wages. A diagnosis time of 5 to 6 years and Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction (LVEF) of 40.88±11.97% were observed. In the clinical profile, the presence of comorbidities was evident, such as systemic arterial hypertension, arterial disease and cardiac arrhythmias (82.72%, 30.86% and 35.80% respectively).

Conclusion: Cardio Vascular Diseases (CVD) directly impacts the lives of thousands of people, presenting an important public expenditure, not to mention the scarcity of diagnostic research, which can contribute to future research and guideline development.

With the advancement in imaging technology, ECG-gated cardiac multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) has emerged as a tool for the anatomic evaluation of the pulmonary valve and right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) in human medicine. Currently, the evaluation of the pulmonary valve relies primarily on echocardiographic examination. However, the bi-dimensional nature of this technique and the location/orientation of the pulmonary valve in the thoracic cavity can pose challenges.

This case involves a 21-year-old male healthcare student with a medical history of HIV-1 infection for two years and anxiety disorder. He presented to the emergency department with hemoptysis and dyspnea of sudden onset. A thoracic CT scan revealed multiple bilateral nodular ground-glass opacities suggestive of diffuse alveolar hemorrhage (DAH).

Background: Takotsubo syndrome (TTS) is characterized by transient left ventricular dysfunction, often triggered by emotional or physical stress. It usually presents with clinical features similar to acute coronary syndrome, making its occurrence following elective percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) challenging to diagnose and treat.

Case Summary: A 67-year-old man with ischaemic heart disease and recurrent angina underwent elective PCI of the right coronary artery.

Background: Cardiac amyloidosis (CA) is a challenging diagnosis, particularly when the classic signs, such as increased wall thickness in a non-dilated left ventricle (LV), are absent. This makes the diagnosis more difficult in patients with normal LV wall thickness. We present a case of CA without increased wall thickness and without the characteristic granular sparkling echotexture in a non-dilated LV.

The Spatial Ventricular Gradient Is Associated with Pacing-Induced Cardiomyopathy.

Heart Rhythm

December 2024

Harvard-Thorndike Electrophysiology Institute, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA. Electronic address:

Background: Pacing-induced cardiomyopathy (PICM) is a frequent complication of right ventricular pacing that often requires re-operation for biventricular or conduction system pacing. Better methods for predicting PICM may inform initial pacing strategy and follow-up monitoring.

Objective: To determine if the spatial ventricular gradient (SVG), a vectorcardiographic marker of ventricular electrical and mechanical heterogeneity, is associated with subsequent development of PICM.
