In this study, the thermoluminescence (TL) properties of natural NaCl from Lluta, Arequipa-Peru was investigated. The number of peaks and the kinetic parameters associated with the TL glow peaks of NaCl sample after gamma-irradiation were analyzed by initial rise and deconvolution method. Defect centers induced in pure salt by gamma irradiation have been studied by electron spin resonance (ESR) with a view to identify the centers associated with the TL process in the salt. Thermal annealing experiments indicate the presence of three defect centers. Center I characterized by the g-value 2.011 is identified as an O ion and relates with the dominant TL peak at 220 °C. Center II with a g-value of 2.0058 is attributed to a F center and is found to correlate with the 128 °C TL peak. Center III has of g-value 2.014 and is also assigned to an O ion.

Deformities, body asymmetries, and muscle contractures are common consequences of atypical postural patterns in children with c ongenital Zika syndrome (CZS). This study aimed to evaluate the posture of children with CZS, considering their neurological and visual impairments. Ophthalmological assessment included binocular best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) using Teller Acuity Cards II (TAC II) and an ocular motility evaluation.

Background/objectives: Congenital rubella syndrome (CRS) is a constellation of serious multi-organ birth defects following rubella virus infection during early pregnancy. Countries in which rubella vaccination has not yet been introduced can have a high burden of this disease. Data on CRS burden and epidemiology are needed to guide the introduction of a rubella vaccine and monitor progress for rubella elimination, but the multi-system nature of CRS manifestations and required specialized testing creates a challenge for conducting CRS surveillance in developing settings such as Sudan.

HIV causes intense polyclonal activation of B cells, resulting in increased numbers of spontaneously antibody-secreting cells in the circulation and hypergammaglobulinemia. It is accompanied by significant perturbations in various B cell subsets, such as increased frequencies of immature/transitional B cells, activated memory B cells, atypical memory B cells, short-lived plasmablasts and regulatory B cells, as well as by decreased frequencies of resting memory and resting naïve B cells. Furthermore, both memory and antigen-inexperienced naïve B cells show exhausted and immune-senescent phenotypes.

This study presents a comprehensive method for detecting debonding defects in concrete-filled steel tube (CFST) structures using wave propagation analysis with externally attached piezoelectric ceramic sensors. Experimental tests and numerical simulations were conducted to evaluate the sensitivity and accuracy of two measurement techniques-the flat and oblique measurement methods-in detecting debonding defects of varying lengths and heights. The results demonstrate that the flat measurement method excels in detecting debonding height, while the oblique method is more effective for detecting debonding length.

The design and study of pulsed eddy current sensors for detecting surface defects in small-diameter rods are highly significant. Accurate detection and identification of surface defects in small-diameter rods may be attained by the ongoing optimization of sensor design and enhancement of detection technologies. This article presents the construction of a non-coaxial differential eddy current sensor (Tx-Rx sensor) and examines the detection of surface defects in a small diameter bar.
