Surgical management of intracranial aneurysms (IAs) remains one of the most challenging and dynamic tasks for neurosurgeons. The rivalry between modern time microsurgery and progress in endovascular intervention has provided a great arena for advancement and lead to redefine training concept and referral pattern. Both approaches has its own merits, risks and complications and the best outcome is achieved by case individualization and complimentary multidisciplinary approach. The recent innovation in microscopic and endoscopic tailored skull base approaches, intraoperative 3D and ICG video-angiography, design of high quality aneurysm clips, and refinement of cerebral bypass techniques enhance IAs neurosurgical management and their clinical outcome. The command of tailored skull base approaches should be part of the training curriculum of young generation of neurosurgeons to compliment the emerging treatment options of endovascular intervention.

The objective of this study was to tailor an osteoinductive scaffold for alveolar bone regeneration and around immediately placed implants in extraction sockets of dogs. Tailored amorphous multiporous bioactive glass (TAMP -BG) was prepared and characterized for bioactivity and response of human alveolar bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (hABMSCs). Extraction sockets of twenty-two male mongrel dogs received TAMP-BG in the right side around implant in the distal socket of the mandibular fourth premolar (P4), while the adjacent empty mesial socket of the same tooth was filled with the same graft.

Department of Orthodontics, Faculty of Dentistry, Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Çanakkale, Turkey.

Introduction: This study aimed to assess the precision of an open-source, clinician-trained, and user-friendly convolutional neural network-based model for automatically segmenting the mandible.

Methods: A total of 55 cone-beam computed tomography scans that met the inclusion criteria were collected and divided into test and training groups. The MONAI (Medical Open Network for Artificial Intelligence) Label active learning tool extension was used to train the automatic model.

Facial reconstruction, a crucial method in forensic identification, finds particular significance in cases where conventional means of identification are unavailable. This study addresses a significant gap in the field of forensic facial reconstruction focusing on facial soft tissue thickness (FSTT) and facial reconstruction techniques specifically tailored to the Thai population. By developing and implementing the 3D (three-dimensional) facial reconstruction program and compiling an extensive dataset of FSTT, this research makes substantial progress in advancing forensic facial reconstruction methodologies employing the combination Manchester Method, 3D skull images obtained through cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans were reconstructed using Autodesk Maya software.

Bayesian network for predicting mandibular third molar extraction difficulty.

BMC Oral Health

January 2025

Sub-Institute of Public Safety Standardization, China National Institute of Standardization, No.4 Zhichun Road, Haidian District, Beijing, 100191, PR China.

Background: This study aimed to establish a model for predicting the difficulty of mandibular third molar extraction based on a Bayesian network to meet following requirements: (1) analyse the interaction of the primary risk factors; (2) output quantitative difficulty-evaluation results based on the patient's personal situation; and (3) identify key surgical points and propose surgical protocols to decrease complications.

Methods: Relevant articles were searched to identify risk factors. Clinical knowledge and experience were used to analyse the risk factors to establish the Bayesian network.

This report describes a rare occurrence of benign fibrous histiocytoma in the frontal sinus of a 38-year-old male. The patient presented with acute symptoms, including sudden-onset headache, nausea, and general discomfort, although neurological, otorhinolaryngological and laboratory examinations showed no abnormalities. A cranial CT scan revealed a cystic, osteodestructive lesion measuring 2.
