Effect of Bisphenol F on Reproductive Function in F1 Generation Male Mice and its Potential Mechanisms.

Environ Pollut

December 2024

Key Laboratory of the Provincial Education, Department of Heilongjiang for Common Animal Disease Prevention and Treatment, College of Veterinary Medicine, Northeast Agricultural University, Harbin 150030, China. Electronic address:

Bisphenol F (BPF) is an environmental endocrine disruptor capable of crossing the placental barrier and affecting the growth and development of offspring. Despite its potential impact, systematic research about effects of BPF on the reproductive function of male offspring remains limited. In this study, pregnant female mice were exposed to BPF at doses of 40, 400, and 4000 μg/kg during gestation and lactation, respectively, to evaluate its impact on testicular damage, testosterone levels, and spermatogenesis of male offspring (F1 generation), and further explore the mechanisms using transcriptomics.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Late-onset hypogonadism (LOH) is a common age-related condition in men, characterised by a decline in serum testosterone and a range of associated signs and symptoms, and is classified as impotence in traditional medicine. Saffron is the dried stigma of Crocus sativus L., which is used in traditional medicine as an aphrodisiac.

Testosterone promotes photoreceptor degeneration in the sodium iodate model.

Exp Eye Res

December 2024

FM Kirby Center for Molecular Ophthalmology, Scheie Eye Institute, Department of Ophthalmology, University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, Philadelphia, PA 19104, USA. Electronic address:

Previously, we found that retinas of young male mice were more damaged than those of young female mice in the sodium iodate (NaIO) model. The purpose of this study was to test whether reducing testosterone levels would be retina-protective. Male C57Bl/6J mice underwent surgical castration or sham surgery, then were given an intraperitoneal injection of NaIO at 25 mg/kg.

Objective: To compare sperm retrieval rates, postoperative pain, testicular volume, and postoperative testosterone levels between equatorial incisional microdissection testicular sperm extraction (micro-TESE) and longitidunal incisional micro-TESE in non-obstructive azoospermic (NOA) patients.

Methods: Fifty NOA patients undergoing equatorial incisional micro-TESE were retrospectively assigned to Group 1, while 50 patients undergoing longitidunal incisional micro-TESE were prospectively assigned to Group 2. Demographic data, operative time, postoperative pain assessed via the visual analog scale (VAS), complications, sperm retrieval rates, and hormonal evaluations (FSH, LH, total testosterone) were recorded.

December 2024

Animal Science and Technology College, Beijing University of Agriculture, Beijing 102206, PR China; Key Laboratory of Agricultural Product Processing and Quality Control (Co-construction by Ministry and Province), Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, PR China. Electronic address:

This study investigated the effects of dietary lycopene supplementation on semen quality, testicular histology, antioxidant capacity, and reproductive hormone levels in aging breeder roosters. A total of 96 roosters were randomly divided into four groups and supplemented with 0, 50, 100, and 200 mg/kg of lycopene for six weeks. Lycopene significantly improved semen volume, sperm concentration, motility, viability, and morphological parameters at all doses (P < 0.
