Purpose: Development of a freely available stroke population-specific anatomical CT/MRI atlas with a reliable normalisation pipeline for clinical CT.
Methods: By reviewing CT scans in suspected stroke patients and filtering the AIBL MRI database, respectively, we collected 50 normal-for-age CT and MRI scans to build a standard-resolution CT template and a high-resolution MRI template. The latter was manually segmented into anatomical brain regions. We then developed and validated a MRI to CT registration pipeline to align the MRI atlas onto the CT template. Finally, we developed a CT-to-CT-normalisation pipeline and tested its reliability by calculating Dice coefficient (Dice) and Average Hausdorff Distance (AHD) for predefined areas in 100 CT scans from ischaemic stroke patients.
Results: The resulting CT/MRI templates were age and sex matched to a general stroke population (median age 71.9 years (62.1-80.2), 60% male). Specifically, this accounts for relevant structural changes related to aging, which may affect registration. Applying the validated MRI to CT alignment (Dice > 0.78, Average Hausdorff Distance < 0.59 mm) resulted in our final CT-MRI atlas. The atlas has 52 manually segmented regions and covers the whole brain. The alignment of four cortical and subcortical brain regions with our CT-normalisation pipeline was reliable for small/medium/large infarct lesions (Dice coefficient > 0.5).
Conclusion: The newly created CT-MRI brain atlas has the potential to standardise stroke lesion segmentation. Together with the automated normalisation pipeline, it allows analysis of existing and new datasets to improve prediction tools for stroke patients (free download at https://forms.office.com/r/v4t3sWfbKs ).

Burden of stroke differs by region, which could be attributed to differences in comorbid conditions and ethnicity. Genomewide variation acts as a proxy marker for ethnicity, and comorbid conditions. We present an integrated approach to understand this variation by considering prevalence and mortality rates of stroke and its comorbid risk for 204 countries from 2009 to 2019, and Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) risk variant for all these conditions.

Objective: To validate AnthropoAge, a new metric of biological age (BA), for prediction of all-cause mortality and age-related outcomes and characterize population-specific aging patterns using multinational longitudinal cohorts.
Methods: We analyzed harmonized multinational data from the Gateway to Global Aging, including studies from the US, England, Mexico, Costa Rica, and China. We used body mass index and waist-to-height ratio to estimate AnthropoAge and AnthropoAgeAccel in participants aged 50-90 years old as proxies of BA and age acceleration, respectively.

Although Alzheimer's Disease is a leading cause of death in Vietnam and other post-conflict, low- and middle-income countries, aside from studies of veterans in western populations, research on war-related violence and deprivation as risk factors for cognitive disorders remains sparse. Using data from the Vietnam Health and Aging Study, which relied upon a multistage probability sample of 2447 older adults residing in districts of northern Vietnam differentially exposed to wartime bombing and numerous war-related stressors, this paper investigates associations between early-life war-related stressors and later-life cognitive function in a cohort whose transition to adulthood took place during the American-Vietnam War. Relationships among experiences of severe childhood hunger, war-related violence and environmental hardships, military service, and cognitive function in an analytical sample of 2162 Vietnamese older adults are estimated using quantile regression.

Objective: We aimed to identify independent risk factors of 30-day mortality in patients with surgically treated spontaneous supratentorial intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), validate the Surgical Swedish ICH (SwICH) score within Polish healthcare system, and compare the SwICH score to the ICH score.
Methods: We carried out a single-center retrospective analysis of the medical data juxtaposed with computed tomography scans of 136 ICH patients treated surgically between 2008 and 2022. Statistical analysis was performed using the same characteristics as in the SwICH score and the ICH score.
