Purpose: Various forms of local haemostats are increasingly used routinely in surgical procedures. Our work is the first comparison of the efficacy and safety of non-regenerated and regenerated oxidized cellulose based fibrous haemostats.
Methods: The haemostatic efficacy and safety of fibrous haemostats based on ONRC and ORC were compared in a randomized multicenter study.

Lumbar spinal stenosis is a condition where the neural structures are compressed in the narrowed spinal canal and often situated only within a single specific segment of the spine, most frequently in the lumbar spine. A case report demonstrates a surgical solution of lumbar spinal stenosis with using oxidized cellulose as a prevention of post-operative adhesions and failed back syndrome. A female patient (68) with a significant pain of the lumbar spine lasting for a number of months due to advanced spondylosis, failing to respond to conservative treatment underwent instrumented, posterolateral fusion of affected segments.

Usage of a resorbable haemostat on the basis of oxidized cellulose in the form of cotton wool may minimize the cause of bleeding, mainly in patients with post-inflammatory thoracic complications. The strong point of this material is its easy application and malleability.

For successful outpatient treatment of perianal duplicatures, it was necessary to solve two main problems. First was bleeding from wounds following excision of perianal duplicatures, which is often marked and "pulsating", as well as to accelerate defect healing after excision so as to eliminate or minimize sick leave following this outpatient procedure. To effectively stop acute bleeding we use Traumacel powder, which after applying to a tampon we apply to the bleeding site and by compression we facilitate its effect.

Authors point out a possibility of improving operative results in thoracic surgery with acute state. They prove it with two groups of patients, where preoperative complications are anticipated. The first group consists of the patients with thorax injury and the second group consists of the patients with relapsing pneumothorax.
