Studies have reported a varied correlation strength between the electrically evoked compound action potential (ECAP) and electrically evoked stapedial reflex thresholds (ESRT) in cochlear implant recipients. However, there is a lack of information on the relationship between the two measures in paediatric cochlear implant users. This study was aimed to compare the ESRT and ECAP measures and determine where ECAP thresholds fall within the dynamic range of ESRT-based Maps in paediatric cochlear implant users.

The persistent stapedial artery (PSA) is an exceedingly vascular anomaly that can lead to hearing loss or pulsatile tinnitus, yet its preoperative diagnosis is often challenging. We report the case of a 24-year-old woman with bilateral PSA and stapes ankylosis who presented with progressive bilateral mixed hearing loss. The patient was initially diagnosed with bilateral congenital stapes ankylosis and stapes surgery was performed on the left side using transcanal endoscopic ear surgery (TEES).

Purpose: Despite the declining incidence of acute mastoiditis (AM) due to antibiotics, complications persist, necessitating surgical intervention in severe cases. Recent studies suggest conservative treatments, avoiding mastoidectomy, show high recovery rates. However, this trend raises concerns about severe complications, prolonged treatment, increased antibiotic use, and declining surgical skills.

The stapedius muscle is a very small skeletal muscle that connects the pyramidal eminence to the stapes through the stapedial tendon. It is very rare that stapedius muscle and tendon are congenitally absent; however, this has been reported previously in the literature and the current report.
