Article Abstract

A group of Austrian breast cancer specialists met in December 2020 to establish a comprehensive clinical benefit-risk profile of available HER2-targeted therapies based on recent data and to develop an updated treatment algorithm by consensus over several months in 2021. A total of four scenarios were developed in which treatment strategies appropriate for specific patient profiles were evaluated. Consensus was established by detailed discussions of each scenario and by reaching full consensus.

Background: Pharmacoepidemiologic studies assessing drug effectiveness for Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD) are increasingly popular given the critical need for effective therapies for ADRD. To meet the urgent need for robust dementia ascertainment from real-world data, we aimed to develop a novel algorithm for identifying incident and prevalent dementia in claims.

Method: We developed algorithm candidates by different timing/frequency of dementia diagnosis/treatment to identify dementia from inpatient/outpatient/prescription claims for 6,515 and 3,997 participants from Visits 5 (2011-2013; mean age 75.

Background: Alzheimer's and related disorders (ADRD) represent a range of neurodegenerative conditions characterized by abnormal protein deposits in the brain. Despite advances, there is a need for enhanced diagnostic and treatment approaches that acknowledge the diversity of ADRD. This project introduces the Alzheimer's and Related Disorders Multicenter Archive (ARMA), a collaborative platform with an advanced Electronic Data Capture (EDC) system linked to Electronic Medical Records (EMR) designed to refine ADRD diagnosis and natural history understanding, thus informing precision medicine.

Background: To address the rapid increase in the number of persons with Alzheimer's disease or related dementia (PwADRD), we seek to combine the benefits of music intervention with the adaptability of social robotics. Our system, the Music intervention Using Socially Engaging robotics (MUSE) system, seeks to provide a structured music intervention session to a group of PwADRD using the social robot Pepper. As seen in Figure 1, the Pepper robot leads the PwADRD through a 3-step music intervention session.

Background: The integration of Large Language Models (LLMs) like ChatGPT-4 in clinical settings offers potential enhancements in medical practice, particularly in neurology and dementia care. There is rising public usage of ChatGPT-4 for preliminary information gathering. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of ChatGPT-4 in responding to neurology-focused queries, with an emphasis on Alzheimer's Disease (AD).

Background: The prevalence of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD) presents a growing public health challenge. This study introduces an innovative approach to dementia care through the development of AI agents that simulate the interactions between people living with dementia (PLWD) and their caregivers during activities of daily living (ADLs).

Method: The study employs ChatGPT (GPT4) large language models to create AI agents representing both PLWD and interventionists.
