Hyperthermia therapeutic treatments require improved multifunctional materials with tunable synergetic properties. Here, we report on the synthesis of FeO@Au core-shell nanorods and their subsequent incorporation into an agarose hydrogel to obtain anisotropic magnetic and optical properties for magneto- and photothermal anisotropic transductions. Highly monodisperse ferrimagnetic FeO nanorods with tunable size were synthesized using a solvothermal method by varying the amount of hexadecylamine capping ligands. A gold shell was coated onto FeO nanorods by the intermediate formation of core-satellite structures and a subsequent controlled growth process, leading to an optical response variation from the visible to the near-infrared (NIR) region. The nanorods were oriented within an agarose hydrogel to fabricate free-standing anisotropic materials, providing a proof-of-concept for the applicability of these materials for anisotropic magneto- and photothermia applications. The strong gelling behavior upon cooling and shear-thinning behavior of agarose enable the fabrication of magnetically active continuous hydrogel filaments upon injection. These developed multifunctional nanohybrid materials represent a base for advanced sensing, biomedical, or actuator applications with an anisotropic response.

In this work, we demonstrate the visualization of the complex magnetic fields by utilizing the magneto-photonic effect of FeO@SiO nanorod suspension with one-to-one correspondence between the visible colors and magnetic field directions. The selected anisotropic nanorods possess appropriate saturated magnetization and high electrostatic repulsion, which is magnetically direction-responsive but strength-insensitive, accurately detecting the field direction while eliminating the influence from intensity. The combined experiment-simulation study validates the accuracy of the simulation, allowing us to further determine the intensity distribution of the magnetic field.

This study thoroughly examines the structural, mechanical, thermal, electronic, optical, and thermoelectric properties of RhMnZ (Z = Si, Ge) half-Heusler compounds, which feature 18 valence electrons. Using density functional theory (DFT) within the WIEN2k computational framework, the ground-state properties of these compounds were determined to establish a foundational understanding of their physical characteristics. To further assess their thermoelectric potential, the Boltzmann transport equation was applied with the constant relaxation time approximation, allowing for precise calculations of thermal and electrical conductivity.

Two-dimensional (2D) magnets, as an important member of the 2D material family, have emerged as a promising platform for spintronic devices. Herein, we report the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) growth of highly crystalline submillimeter-scale self-intercalated metallic 2D ferromagnetic (FM) trigonal chromium telluride (CrTe) flakes on inert mica substrates. Through magneto-optical and magnetotransport measurements, we unveil the exceptional magnetic properties of these 2D flakes.

Skeletal muscle integrity and its intrinsic aligned architecture are crucial for locomotion, postural support, and respiration functions, impacting overall quality of life. However, volumetric muscle loss (VML) can exceed intrinsic regenerative potential, leading to fibrosis and impairments. Autologous muscle grafting, the current gold standard, is constrained by tissue availability and success rates.
