Microwave ablation (MWA) is an established tool in modern therapy of hepatic malignomas. Although it is generally a safe procedure, severe complications related to MWA have been reported in the literature. We report on the first case of a fatal pulmonary biliary embolism following hepatic MWA. The development of pulmonary biliary embolisms is possible and should be considered particularly in the case of by extensive ablation near liver veins.

Lysine lactylation plays critical roles in various diseases, including cancer. Our previous study showed that lactylation of non-histone ABCF1 may be involved in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) progression. In this study, we evaluated the prognostic value of ABCF1-K430la in HCC using immunohistochemical staining and performed amino acid point mutations, multi-omics crossover, and biochemical experiments to investigate its biological role and underlying mechanism.

Background: Metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) is the main cause of CRC mortality, with limited treatment options. Although immunotherapy has benefited some cancer patients, mCRC typically lacks the molecular features that respond to this treatment. However, recent studies indicate that the immune microenvironment of mCRC may be modified to enhance the effect of immune checkpoint inhibitors.

Background: Benzodiazepines are the third most misused medication, with many patients having their first exposure during a surgical episode. We sought to characterize factors associated with new persistent benzodiazepine use (NPBU) among patients undergoing cancer surgery.
Patients And Methods: Patients who underwent cancer surgery between 2013 and 2021 were identified using the IBM-MarketScan database.
