Two Keggin polyoxometalates were used as new copper ligands to counteract the effects of Cu(Amyloid-β) interaction. Their ability to remove Cu from Cu(Amyloid-β), to stop Cu(Amyloid-β) induced formation of reactive oxygen species and to restore apo-like self-assembly of Cu(Amyloid-β) was shown.

The oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is a critical challenge in electrocatalytic water splitting, hindered by high energy demands and slow kinetics. Polyoxometalates (POMs), recognized for their unique redox capabilities, structural archetypes, and molecular precision, are promising candidates for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Yet, their application is hindered by high water solubility, causing rapid degradation and efficiency loss under harsh OER conditions.

Interface Storage Mechanism in Aqueous Ammonium-Ion Supercapacitors with Keggin-Type Polyoxometalates-Modified Ag-BTC.

Adv Mater

December 2024

Key Laboratory of Polyoxometalate and Reticular Material Chemistry of Ministry of Education, Faculty of Chemistry, Northeast Normal University, Changchun, 130024, P. R. China.

Ammonium-ion supercapacitors (AISCs) offer considerable potential for future development owing to their low cost, high safety, environmental sustainability, and efficient electrochemical energy storage capabilities. The rapid and efficient charge-transfer process at the AISC can endow them with high capacitive and cycling stabilities. However, the prolonged intercalation/deintercalation of NH in layered and framework materials often results in the cleavage of the active sites and the deconstruction of the framework, which makes it difficult to achieve long-term stable energy storage while maintaining high capacitance in the electrode materials.

Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Chiang Mai University, Chiang Mai 50200, Thailand; Center of Excellence for Innovation in Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Chiang Mai University, Chiang Mai 50200, Thailand. Electronic address:

Clinical diagnosis and long-term diabetes management are advanced by monitoring glycated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) levels. New sensitive sandwich-like immunosensors for the diagnosis of early diabetes toward detecting HbA1c and hemoglobin (Hb) are demonstrated for the first time. DNA aptamers are used for signal amplification in the sensors for the detection of HbA1c and Hb.

Functionalized separators are expected to serve as protective barriers to conquer the lithium dendrite penetration in lithium metal batteries. Herein, a novel self-supporting separator material has been successfully synthesized based on the cellulose acetate and Keggin-type polyoxometalate HPMoO·HO (denoted as CA/PMo). The incorporation of PMo facilitates the transformation of the original finger-like structure of the CA separator into a uniform three-dimensional porous grid architecture, which is more effective in inhibiting the growth of lithium dendrites.

Enhanced Proton Conduction via Proton-Coupled Electron Transfer Reaction by a Keplerate-Type Polyoxometalate Capsule.

Inorg Chem

December 2024

Department of Basic Science, School of Arts and Sciences, The University of Tokyo, Komaba, Meguro-ku, Tokyo 153-8902, Japan.

Polyoxometalates (POMs), anionic metal-oxide clusters, are actively studied for their versatile structural designs and element selectivity. A series of Keplerate-type POMs with core-shell structures, known as POM capsules, that feature a Keggin-type POM core, has been reported. These POM capsules, with their neutral to negative charge and large molecular surface area, can serve as platforms for proton (H) conduction.
