Published: January 2022

The paper considers the issues of reconstruction of the power disturbing effect on the prototype of the small spacecraft "Aist". The measurements data of the components of the induction vector of the Earth's magnetic field by means of two three-component magnetometers were used for the reconstruction. The obtained results can be used to assess microaccelerations in the internal environment of small spacecraft, as well as to study their uncontrolled rotational motion.

Multimodal electrospray thruster for small spacecraft: design and experimental characterization.

J Elect Propuls

RMC Advanced Propulsion and Plasma Exploration Laboratory (RAPPEL), Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Royal Military College of Canada, 13 General Crerar Crescent, Kingston, K7K 7B4 Ontario Canada.

Electrospray thrusters are a promising electric micropropulsion technology which could be used to meet the propulsion needs of nanosatellites, or for fine attitude control of larger spacecraft. Multimodal propulsion is the integration of two or more propulsion modes into a system which utilizes a common propellant. Indeed, spacecraft mission simulations and models have shown that this type of multimode propulsion capacity is exciting because of the flexibility and adaptability it provides mission designers and planners.

This paper presents the design and validation of a high-precision angular vibration calibration system based on a laser vibrometer, aimed at meeting the high-precision requirements for measuring small angular vibrations. The system primarily consists of a self-driving angular vibration platform and a laser vibrometer. The platform is isolated from ground interference via an air-floating platform and uses a split-type motor to control the platform, generating specific angular vibrations.

Background: The extreme environment of the International Space Station (ISS) puts selective pressure on microorganisms unintentionally introduced during its 20+ years of service as a low-orbit science platform and human habitat. Such pressure leads to the development of new features not found in the Earth-bound relatives, which enable them to adapt to unfavorable conditions.

Results: In this study, we generated the functional annotation of the genomes of five newly identified species of Gram-positive bacteria, four of which are non-spore-forming and one spore-forming, all isolated from the ISS.

Based on decades of single-spacecraft measurements near 1 au as well as data from heliospheric and planetary missions, multi-spacecraft simultaneous measurements in the inner heliosphere on separations of 0.05-0.2 au are required to close existing gaps in our knowledge of solar wind structures, transients, and energetic particles, especially coronal mass ejections (CMEs), stream interaction regions (SIRs), high speed solar wind streams (HSS), and energetic storm particle (ESP) events.

Multi-Objective Optimization of Injection Molding Parameters for Manufacturing Thin-Walled Composite Connector Terminals.

Materials (Basel)

August 2024

State Key Laboratory of Advanced Design and Manufacturing Technology for Vehicle, Hunan University, Changsha 410082, China.

The rapid development of new energy vehicles demands significant improvements in connector structures and performance standards. Wire harness connectors, crucial for linking various electrical components, face challenges due to their small size and thin-walled structure, which can lead to dimensional shrinkage and warping during injection molding. To address these issues, this study optimizes the injection molding process by fine-tuning parameters such as melt temperature, mold temperature, injection time, holding pressure/time, and cooling time.
