(1) Background: An aging society is frequently affected by multimorbidity and polypharmacy, which, in turn, leads to an increased risk for drug interaction. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of drug interactions on the length of stay (LOS) in hospitals. (2) Methods: This retrospective, single-centre study is based on patients treated for community-acquired pneumonia in the hospital. Negative binomial regression was used to analyse the association between drug interactions and the LOS in the hospital. (3) Results: The total cohort contained 503 patients, yet 46 inpatients (9%) that died were not included in the analyses. The mean age was 74 (±15.3) years, 35% of patients older than 65 years were found to have more than two drug interactions, and 55% had a moderate, severe, or contraindicated adverse drug reaction. The regression model revealed a significant association between the number of drug interactions (rate ratio (RR) 1.02; 95%-CI 1.01-1.04) and the severity of drug interactions (RR 1.22; 95%-CI 1.09-1.37) on the LOS for the overall cohort as well as for the subgroup of patients aged 80 years and older. (4) Conclusion: Drug interactions are an independent risk factor for prolonged hospitalisation. Standardised assessment tools to avoid drug interactions should be implemented in clinical routines.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate CTF1 expression in glioma, its relationship to patient prognosis and the tumor immune microenvironment, and effects on glioma phenotypes to identify a new therapeutic target for treating glioma precisely.
Methods: We initially assessed the expression of CTF1, a member of the IL-6 family, in glioma, using bioinformatics tools and publicly available databases. Furthermore, we examined the correlation between CTF1 expression and tumor prognosis, DNA methylation patterns, m6A-related genes, potential biological functions, the immune microenvironment, and genes associated with immune checkpoints.

Resting-state functional connectivity analyses have been used to examine synchrony in neural networks in substance use disorders (SUDs), with the default mode network (DMN) one of the most studied. Prior research has generally found less DMN synchrony during use and greater synchrony during cessation, although little research has utilized this method with opioid use. This study examined resting brain activity in treatment-seeking persons who use opioids at two points-when using opioids and when opioid-free-to determine whether the DMN exhibits different levels of connectivity during opioid use and cessation and whether differences in connectivity predict subsequent relapse.

Multifunctional polymers are interesting substances for the formulation of drug molecules that cannot be administered in their pure form due to their pharmacokinetic profiles or side effects. Polymer-drug formulations can enhance pharmacological properties or create tissue specificity by encapsulating the drug into nanocontainers, or stabilizing nanoparticles for drug transport.
