While the field of learning disabilities has grown substantially over the past several decades (Grigorenko et al. in Am Psychol 75:37, 2020) little work has explored the role of internalizing symptoms among struggling students. The present study compared struggling and typical readers on several child reported internalizing measures at both the beginning and end of a school year during which time they received either classroom-as-usual or research-team provided intensive intervention. Struggling readers who did and did not meet reading benchmarks were also compared at year-end. While minimal differences were present at the beginning of the year, numerous differences were observed at the end, with students exhibiting persistent reading struggles reporting significantly greater distress. Bi-directional associations emerged with beginning of year group status predicting internalizing symptoms and beginning of year internalizing symptoms predicting end of year intervention response group status. Findings are discussed in terms of future directions for enhancing intervention studies of struggling readers.

Unlabelled: The present study examines the potential of the Symptom Checklist-90-Revised (SCL-90-R) as a measure for the Hierarchical Taxonomy of Psychopathology (HiTop) model. Two structural models were evaluated. In Model 1, the SCL-90-R dimensions were allocated to somatoform (comprising somatization), internalizing (comprising obsessive-compulsive, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety, and phobic anxiety), and antagonistic disinhibited (comprising hostility) spectra.

Objective: The current study evaluated the association between behavioral problems in children and adolescents with epilepsy and parental stress.
Methods: A prospective observational study of 314 consecutive parents of children and adolescents with epilepsy who attended the out-patient epilepsy clinic of a tertiary care hospital was done between June 2022 and September 2023. Self-reported Child Behaviour Check List (CBCL) was reported by parents; who also reported the parental stress scale (PSS).

In this study, polypeptide TGGGPLGVARGKGGC-induced chiral manganese dioxide supraparticles (MnO SPs) are prepared for sensitive quantification of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) in vitro and in vivo. The results show that L-type manganese dioxide supraparticles (L-MnO SPs) exhibited twice the affinity for the cancer cell membrane receptor CD47 (cluster of differentiation, integrin-associated protein) than D-type manganese dioxide supraparticles (D-MnO SPs) to accumulate at the tumor site after surface modification of the internalizing arginine-glycine-aspartic acid (iRGD) ligand, specifically reacting with the MMP-9, disassembling into ultrasmall nanoparticles (NPs), and efficiently underwent renal clearance. Furthermore, L-MnO facilitates the quantification of MMP-9 in mouse tumor xenografts, as demonstrated by circular dichroism (CD) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) within 2 h.

Background: Caregiver-involved treatments for adolescents with alcohol use disorder and co-occurring disorders (AUD+CODs) are associated with the best treatment outcomes. Understanding what caregiving practices during treatment improve core adolescent treatment targets may facilitate the refinement and scalability of caregiver-involved interventions. Caregiving is dynamic, varying by context, affect, and adolescent behavior.

Down syndrome (DS) is the most frequent genetic cause of intellectual disability (ID). Individuals with DS exhibit an elevated risk of other neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The primary objective of this study was to explore the clinical characteristics of co-occurring ASD in children and adolescents with DS using a case-control approach.
