Article Abstract

The newly emerged 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has urged scientific and medical communities to focus on epidemiology, pathophysiology, and treatment of SARS-CoV-2. Indeed, little is known about the virus causing this severe acute respiratory syndrome pandemic, coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2). Data already collected on viruses belonging to the family are of interest to improve our knowledge rapidly on this pandemic. The current review aims at delivering insight into the fundamental advances inSARS-CoV-2 epidemiology, pathophysiology, life cycle, and treatment.

Background: Despite the comparatively high prevalence of possible sarcopenia among young-old adults in the community, there is currently no available and effective social media-based intervention to increase the awareness and change the behavior of the target population to prevent sarcopenia. Using co-design methodology, we developed a multicomponent intervention strategy of health education and exercise for sarcopenia prevention utilizing the TikTok platform.

Objectives: The primary purpose of this study is to examine the feasibility and acceptability of the social media-based intervention to enhance muscle function in community-dwelling young-old adults with possible sarcopenia.

Patients with radiographic axial spondyloarthritis (r-axSpA) experience a higher prevalence of fragility fractures, though the pathophysiology of osteoporosis associated with this disease remains poorly understood. The objective of this study was to evaluate the histomorphometric data in r-axSpA patients. Male r-axSpA patients up to 55 years old were enrolled in this cross-sectional study.

Introduction: Hepatitis B reactivation and administration of prophylactic antiviral treatment are considered in patients with autoimmune inflammatory rheumatic diseases (AIIRD) undergoing immunosuppressive/immunomodulatory treatment. Data are more robust for rheumatoid arthritis patients receiving bDMARDs but are limited for other AIIRD and drug categories.

Methods: Adult patients with AIIRD (inflammatory arthritis [IA] or connective tissue diseases [CTD]) and documented chronic or resolved HBV infection (defined as serum HBsAg positivity or anti-HBcAb positivity in the case of HBsAg non-detection respectively), followed-up in six rheumatology centers in Greece and Italy, were included.

Background: Lewy body disease (LBD) is a neurodegenerative condition marked by the accumulation of neuronal alpha-synuclein, leading to both Parkinson's disease and Lewy body dementia. It is regarded as the second most common neurodegenerative disease associated with aging. However, there is limited knowledge of LBD prevalence in the general population, particularly among non-whites.

Hospital das Clínicas, Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo, São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil.

Background: The study of dementia and its differences between the sexes is widely investigated, mainly in Alzheimer's disease.
