Enhanced conversion of carbon dioxide (CO) for cycloaddition with epoxide derivatives is highly desired in organic synthesis and green chemistry, yet it is still a challenge to obtain satisfactory activity under mild reaction conditions of temperature and pressure. For this purpose, an unexploited strategy is proposed here by incorporating near-infrared (NIR) photothermal properties into multicomponent catalysts. Through the electrostatic adsorption of Co- or Ce-substituted polyoxometalate (POM) clusters on the surface of graphene oxide (GO) with covalently grafted polyethyleneimine (PEI), a series of composite catalysts POMs@GO-PEI are prepared. The structural and property characterizations demonstrate the synergistic advantages of the catalysts bearing Lewis acids and bases and local NIR photothermal heating from the GO matrix for dramatically enhanced CO cycloaddition. Noticeably, while the turnover frequency increases up to 2718 h, the heterogeneous catalysts exhibit photothermal stability and recyclability. With this method, the onsite NIR photothermal transformation becomes extendable to more green reaction processes.

A stimuli-responsive drug delivery system based on konjac glucomannan, carboxymethyl chitosan and mesoporous polydopamine nanoparticles.

Int J Biol Macromol

Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Advanced Catalytic Materials and Technology, School of Petrochemical Engineering, Changzhou University, Changzhou 213164, China. Electronic address:

A stimuli-responsive drug delivery system is developed for controlled delivery of curcumin (Cur) and chemo-photothermal therapy of breast cancer (BC). Cur is first loaded into mesoporous polydopamine nanoparticles (mPDA NPs) by π-π stacking, and then the Cur loaded mPDA NPs (mPDA NPs@Cur) are encapsulated in the hydrogels prepared through the crosslinking of oxidized konjac glucomannan (oxKGM) and carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCS). Owing to the pH-sensitivity of the hydrogels and the outstanding photothermal conversion capability of mPDA NPs, the release of Cur from the hydrogels can be greatly accelerated in acidic media upon near infrared (NIR) irradiation.

Melanoma, an aggressive skin tumor, is prone to metastasis, significantly reducing patient survival rates once it occurs. Tumor microvascularity is a key factor in metastasis, making the inhibition of microvascular formation crucial. Emerging photothermal therapy (PTT) and microneedles (MNs) have garnered attention due to their non-invasive and controllable nature.

Photothermal-manipulatable shape memory polyacrylamide/gelatin Janus hydrogel with drug carrier array for invasive wound closure and responsive drug release.

December 2024

State Key Laboratory of Resource Insects, College of Sericulture, Textile and Biomass Sciences, Southwest University, Chongqing 400715, China. Electronic address:

Traditional wound closure methods often present several issues, including additional puncture wounds, adverse effects from anesthesia, and noticeable scarring. Inspired by embryonic wound healing, a Janus hydrogel (PG/Au-Asp@PCM) is designed to manipulate non-invasive wound closure by photothermal-responsive self-contraction of PG/Au-Asp@PCM, which is attributed to the shape memory behavior of PG/Au-Asp@PCM under near-infrared (NIR). Wherein, gelatin acts as a thermally reversible "switch" and polyacrylamide creates stable and cross-linked "net-points".

Laboratory of Electromechanical Integrated Manufacturing of High-performance Electronic Equipment, School of Mechano-Electronic Engineering, School of Life Science and Technology, Xidian University, Xi'an, Shaanxi 710071, China.

In this research, a hollow mesoporous responsive nanomotor was proposed for enhanced photothermal/immunotherapy under near infrared (NIR) irradiation. HA-HMCuS/AS as the nanomotor composed of hollow mesoporous copper sulfide (HMCuS) loaded with artesunate (AS) and hyaluronic acid (HA) was utilized to induce the polarization of tumor-associated macrophages. At the beginning, ResNet18 deep learning model was utilized to predict the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area of HMCuS based on the morphology data set which was obtained from our conventional research.

State Key Laboratory for Chemistry and Molecular Engineering of Medicinal Resources, School of Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Science, Guangxi Normal University, Guilin 541001, PR China.

High locoregional recurrence rates and potential wound infections remain a significant challenge for postoperative breast cancer patients. Herein, we developed a dual-network hyaluronic acid (HA) nanocomposite hydrogel composed of herring sperm DNA (hsDNA) bridged methacrylated HA (HAMA) and FeMg-LDH-ppsa nanohybrid chelated catechol-modified HA (HADA) for the prevention of breast cancer recurrent, anti-infection, and promoting wound healing. Dynamic reversible hsDNA cross-linking combined with metal-catechol chelating renders the hydrogel injectability, rapid self-healing ability, and enhanced mechanical properties.
