The mRNA vaccine has emerged as a powerful tool against viral infection during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. In the post-COVID-19 era, the applications of mRNA-based therapy continue to expand and evolve. Circular RNA (circRNA), long assumed to be a noncoding RNA, has been proven to be translatable and subsequently developed as a next-generation mRNA modality due to its higher stability and wider therapeutic window.

Background: Access to evidence-based treatments such as family-based therapy (FBT) is difficult for adolescents diagnosed with Anorexia Nervosa (AN) living in rural or regional areas due to a limited trained workforce, high staff turnover and inconsistent treatment fidelity. Telehealth offers a potential access solution by facilitating care irrespective of family or service location. The disruption to the health system caused by COVID-19 amplified an existing need and increased the use of telehealth to deliver FBT before its efficacy and safety was fully evaluated.

Background: Guidelines state that all hospitalized children with suspected or confirmed influenza receive prompt treatment with influenza-specific antivirals. We sought to determine the frequency of, and factors associated with, antiviral receipt among hospitalized children.
Methods: We conducted active surveillance of children presenting with fever or respiratory symptoms from 1 December 2016 to 31 March 2020 at 7 pediatric medical centers in the New Vaccine Surveillance Network.

Characterization and quantitation of T cell responses following infection and/or vaccination can provide insight into mechanisms of host cell immunity that provide resolution of acute infection or protection from future infection or disease. While these types of studies are very advanced for viruses such as HIV, influenza, and SARS-CoV-2, they are less well developed for most of the Bunyaviruses. Cytotoxic CD8T cells are especially relevant in the context of viral infections since they recognize virus-infected cells via interaction of the T cell receptor with virally derived peptides presented in the context of MHCI.
