Deploying energy disaggregation models in the real-world is a challenging task. These models are usually deep neural networks and can be costly when running on a server or prohibitive when the target device has limited resources. Deep learning models are usually computationally expensive and they have large storage requirements. Reducing the computational cost and the size of a neural network, without trading off any performance is not a trivial task. This paper suggests a novel neural architecture that has less learning parameters, smaller size and fast inference time without trading off performance. The proposed architecture performs on par with two popular strong baseline models. The key characteristic is the Fourier transformation which has no learning parameters and it can be computed efficiently.

Environmental taxes play a critical role in mitigating air pollution and fostering sustainability by internalizing the social costs of environmental damage. By imposing financial disincentives on polluters, these taxes encourage cleaner practices and technological innovation. Using panel ARDL models, this study examines the impact of environmental taxes on CO₂ emissions across 38 OECD countries, accounting for cross-sectional dependence, non-stationarity, and heterogeneity.

Due to growing population and technological advances, global electricity consumption is increasing. Although CO emissions are projected to plateau or slightly decrease by 2025 due to the adoption of clean energy sources, they are still not decreasing enough to mitigate climate change. The residential sector makes up 25% of global electricity consumption and has potential to improve efficiency and reduce CO footprint without sacrificing comfort.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, effective public policy interventions have been crucial in combating virus transmission, sparking extensive debate on crisis management strategies and emphasizing the necessity for reliable models to inform governmental decisions, particularly at the local level. Leveraging disaggregated socio-demographic microdata, including social determinants, age-specific strata, and mobility patterns, we design a comprehensive network model of Catalonia's population and, through numerical simulation, assess its response to the outbreak of COVID-19 over the two-year period 2020-21. Our findings underscore the critical importance of timely implementation of broad non-pharmaceutical measures and effective vaccination campaigns in curbing virus spread; in addition, the identification of high-risk groups and their corresponding maps of connections within the network paves the way for tailored and more impactful interventions.

Hypothesis: The porosity affects the rheological response of porous particle suspensions.
Experiments: Non-Brownian suspensions of porous particles immersed in a Newtonian Polyisobutene are investigated. Three different particles, with different porosity, pore structure and similar size, and non-porous irregular particles are used.
Bottlebrush polymers are complex architectures with densely grafted polymer side chains along polymeric backbones. The dense and conformationally extended chains in bottlebrush polymers give rise to unique properties, including low chain entanglement, low critical aggregation concentrations, and elastomeric properties in the bulk phase. Conjugated polymers have garnered attention as lightweight, processible, and flexible semi-conducting materials.
